Pham then gives him the "hand job" motion, and continues talking sheet to him. It's not like the fan wrapped him up with his hands. It was a slight shoulder brush with a baseball mitt. What more likely happened is the fan was harassing Pham, and we know how well Tommy can handle that!

On a side note Pham was fined 10Gs for his hand job motion.
I watched the play there's no way the fan ever had a chance to get the ball he reached out and drug his glove across him on purpose. And you are probably right the fan was harassing him then drug his glove across his back so yea if that were me and someone was harassing me then touched me like that yea even if it were an accident which clearly it wasnt yea I would think they did it on purpose any sane person would

Pink Freud wrote: 24 Apr 2025 23:59 pm Now he's with Pittsburgh, after ten teams couldn't wait to get rid of him, and he chases a double into the LF corner of Angel Stadium with its very low corner outfield wall. While digging the ball out, a fan TOUCHES him.

Pham takes a moment to glare threateningly at the fan before throwing the ball to the infield. Then he makes vague hand gestures apparently inviting the fan onto the field for a fight.

Pham: Blather. Wince. Repeat.

It's ironic that this occurred at Angel Stadium, because in the 2002 World Series (Angels vs. SF Giants), a ball was hit into the RF corner, where Giants OF'er Reggie Sanders had to go find the ball while fans in the first row beat him up with those irritating Thunderstix, the inflated bat-like toy with plastic peas inside,

Oh, how I wish those Thunderstix had been in those fans' hands when Tommy Pham chased that ball into the corner.

I was in San Diego for Milton Bradley's weekly mental meltdowns with the Padres in 2009. Pham seems to want to be Milton Bradley III, after the ballplayer and the tabletop game company.
You're one weird dude ...

Folks have so little to do that they start threads about Tommy Pham's bout with temper.

Have a drink and relax for Christ's sake.

As for the poster who thought it would be nice for Pham to have been banged with a thunder stick, I wonder who he would react if he was the player.
We would have to ask Reggie Sanders what that feels like...and during a WS game, no less.

MLB is going to have to deal with fan interference very soon, especially after that Yankee Stadium idiot pinned Mookie Betts' glove on the wall in the WS . Nobody needs another Reggie Sanders, Tommy Pham, or Jeffrey Maier incident. An easy out: Keep all fans seated at least one row from the foul line walls and outfield walls by creating a buffer zone.

Many years ago the Cardinals did that at Busch #2 with a flower bed in front of the bleachers. At Wrigley you have the 24-in. basket mounted on top of the brick wall, and the foul line corner walls are too high for a fan to get involved, unless, of course, you're Steve Bartman. The corner outfield walls in Fenway Park (RF only) and Dodger Stadium (both) are so low that they almost invite first-row fans to interfere both with the ball in play and with the outfielder.

lol it was clearly no accident unless the fan was so dumb or drunk he thought the ball could phase through him and keep going

He did more that touch him. He touched him and then swiped the webbing across his back. That was intentional.

+1...I'm guessing a few of the posters are not concerned about Pham's anger but perhaps something else?

LOL.....agree!
The fan should not have touched him and who knows what choice words were exchanged?
To your point the obsession with former Cardinal players amazes me!
Pham?
Carlson?
DeJong?
Garcia?
Etc etc
Let it go! I have nothing against any of these guys but I certainly don’t sit around obsessing over what they are doing on a daily basis.

Touch a professional athlete on purpose, pay the price. I felt the same way however many years ago that incident happened in the NBA. [fork] around and find out, as the younger people say.

Oh, so he was just a harmless moron trying to interfere with a ball in play. Changes everything.
