Tommy Pham Goes All.....Tommy Pham Again
Now he's with Pittsburgh, after ten teams couldn't wait to get rid of him, and he chases a double into the LF corner of Angel Stadium with its very low corner outfield wall. While digging the ball out, a fan TOUCHES him.
Pham takes a moment to glare threateningly at the fan before throwing the ball to the infield. Then he makes vague hand gestures apparently inviting the fan onto the field for a fight.
Pham: Blather. Wince. Repeat.
It's ironic that this occurred at Angel Stadium, because in the 2002 World Series (Angels vs. SF Giants), a ball was hit into the RF corner, where Giants OF'er Reggie Sanders had to go find the ball while fans in the first row beat him up with those irritating Thunderstix, the inflated bat-like toy with plastic peas inside,
Oh, how I wish those Thunderstix had been in those fans' hands when Tommy Pham chased that ball into the corner.
I was in San Diego for Milton Bradley's weekly mental meltdowns with the Padres in 2009. Pham seems to want to be Milton Bradley III, after the ballplayer and the tabletop game company.

Re: Tommy Pham Goes All.....Tommy Pham Again
He of course would want to be paid well
Re: Tommy Pham Goes All.....Tommy Pham Again
Fans should not be allowed to touch players, especially while the ball is in-play. He knew the runner wasn’t getting to third. No problem with Pham there. Hope the fan was kicked out

Fan shouldn't have put his hand on the player. People don't know that?

Oh please. Look at the play. The fan was reaching for the ball, and his glove brushed Phams shoulder. Pham then gives him the "hand job" motion, and continues talking sheet to him. It's not like the fan wrapped him up with his hands. It was a slight shoulder brush with a baseball mitt. What more likely happened is the fan was harassing Pham, and we know how well Tommy can handle that!
On a side note Pham was fined 10Gs for his hand job motion.

Totally agree...unfortunately, some posters have problems with Pham because of personal reasons...Ty Cobb would have punched the fan!

Never had a problem with Pham.
Fans don't touch players like that. Anybody should know that.
Phams all business on the field. No grabbassing with opposing players after reaching base . No laughing in the dugout when you're getting beat 7-1, no dogging it.

I could never understand how a guy in a meaningful game getting their brains beat out gets a single and stands there with the opposing first baseman and pats him on the butt and tells each other a joke and is laughing. or show guys in the dugout laughing while getting beat 7-1. You never saw that before Oli got here.
Save that (bleep) for the clubhouse or at the bar after the game.

Should not have made the gesture but I don't blame him for being angry that was stupid of the fan I hope he got thrown out of the game. I always liked Pham you could do a lot worse than having guys on your team like him or are all business and want to win11WSChamps wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 08:29 am Never had a problem with Pham.

His arm would had to be 10 feet long to reach that ball. Better excuse would be the fan was drunk.RamFan08NY wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025 08:20 am Oh please. Look at the play. Re: Tommy Pham Goes All.....Tommy Pham Again
Agreed.
As for the poster who thought it would be nice for Pham to have been banged with a thunder stick, I wonder who he would react if he was the player.
