Re: Must fire Marmol now....
Why? This team is not going to compete. Oli is a placeholder on a rebuilding team with a new GM next year. He will be out the door 15 seconds after Mo. And, what qualified manager would take over without some assurances from the new regime?

The ownership wiped out the bfib. Also, bfib was media produced so it never really was a thing.45s wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 14:06 pmPersonal attacks, name calling…rockondlouie wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 13:56 pm The little scumbag stands there smirking in the dugout knowing Mo has his back no matter how bad he s u c k s.

That’s weird. Players on other teams who come into town are impressed by the knowledgeable fans and what good sports they are.Poojols wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 01:22 amThe ownership wiped out the bfib. You are correct...I'm part if a season ticket group in Section 148...people are not coming to the games so that BFIB nonsense is bull[shirt].Poojols wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 01:22 amThe ownership wiped out the bfib. I see Miles threw 89 pitches…..why was he removed? Any trouble?
Best case is he goes on the IL and McGreevy takes his spot!

Agreed. Remember, he took a pitcher out who was throwing a no-hitter because his pitch count was in the 80s. We ended up losing that game, too. You have to have a battle plan but a good commander adjusts to the conditions and circumstances on the battlefield.Goldfan wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025 19:32 pmWhy take a vet out after 6 throwing a SHO and hand it over this clusterphuck BP??? but it's just so entertaining to make fun of
Re: Must fire Marmol now....
“This is who we got and we got to get them back on track,” Marmol said after the game. “There’s nothing coming from down below (in the minors) where it’s going to change. We have to get these guys better, and the only way is for them to pitch." The Athletic.
Gosh thought fans would see what the Cardinals had as prospects, that would be the case IF you were playing the "youngsters". Pretty hard to eval talent when you do not bring them "up".
Of course the comment from Marmot lacks any responsibility on his part. Only confirms the "doing the same thing over and over ................." Do not need an incompetent manager like Marmot to do that every day.

The battlefield remains fluid. One must be flexible and have several courses of action sealed and ready to employ. We don’t have that.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 09:37 amAgreed. Re: Must fire Marmol now....
I'm no Marmol fan. Sooner he's gone the better.
But, I suspect this thread has the same tone but a different reason for blasting the manager had he left Mikolas in and he got rocked in the next inning as he approached and surpassed 100 pitches.
There aren't a lot of pitchers is today's game that are sent back out there. Certainly not #5's who aren't expected to go more the 5 innings in any given start. You don't have to like it, but it's true.
The bullpen didn't do its job. That isn't on the manager.

On CT, it's always the manager's fault.imyourhuckleberry wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 13:06 pm I'm no Marmol fan. Sooner he's gone the better.

Marmol (and Mo) need to be gone. Should have happened a while ago.Cranny wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 13:22 pmOn CT, it's always the manager's fault.imyourhuckleberry wrote: ↑24 Apr 2025 13:06 pm I'm no Marmol fan. Sooner he's gone the better.

At this point, there is literally nothing Marmol could do which would bring people around to supporting him. Not that he's a capable enough MLB manager to do anything that would even start the conversation.
He's a bad manager. That's an inarguable fact.
But pulling a guy (who has shown over and over again he is susceptible to a blow up inning at any given moment), after 6 strong innings was not a bad decision. I didn't follow the GDT yesterday, but I suspect there were call to yank him in the 5th when he got in trouble. And probably the same people complaining that he got pulled after the 6th and the 'pen fell apart.
The guy isn't negatively responsible for everything short of the fall of western civilization. Try to approach criticism with just a shred of objectivity.
Re: Must fire Marmol now....
Actually, Mikolas has shown, in the past, that when he is on, he can go to 100 pitches or more. He may not have a lot of those games, but has had them. In this game, the bullpen was thin, or should have been, due to over use by Oli. Mikolas should have been allowed to continue, at least one more inning, but Fernandez should never have been used at all! Oli is still thinking it’s the 2024 version of Fernandez, not the 2025! He’ll probably figure it out in 2026.

He does that more often.
