As long as they are entertaining and competitive, I'm good with it. 2019 Stanley Cup win was icing on the cake and one of my most memorable sports moments. I don't want to pay for season tickets year in and year out to see a lackluster bottom-feeder.
Ovechkin was a #1 pick
Gretzky was essentially taken even before #1.

Does it bore you to know that St Louis will never get a player in his prime like that? Not ever. Not once.
And Washington has just as many Cups as we do even with Ovie. Gretzky’s Oilers were still in the WHA when he joined them.
Ever been to a Caps game in Washington in the Ovechkin era? He has brought excitement and fun to every game since he has been there.

The kids in Washington have known what name to put on the back of their Caps jersey for 20 years.
The kids in St Louis dropped off their O'Reilly jersey at Goodwill 2 years ago, and now they don't know what name to put on the new one.

Neat. Still only worth 1 Cup though.
Excitement and fun to the building though huh?

Kind of like….a playoff chase?

When you say "playoff chase", are you referring to that great 14-day race of St Louis against Calgary? The great race between the 2 face-less teams?

I thought a smell of gooey goosh was going away? addiction just a little too tough? relapse before the playoffs even started? Some people are fans of the organization over player. Sounds like you must be another sock of IT. worshipping individuals over the team is whats wrong with society. Probably a Lebron fan too. Celebrate mercenaries over putting in the time.

OK, smarty-pants, who is going to win the Cup? Which team has the best players by draft pedigree?
Dallas
Three Avs players were original top-five picks by Colorado: MacKinnon, Landeskog, Makar
Team has three other top-10 picks made by other teams: EJ (StL #1), Drouin (TB #3), Nichuskin (Dal #10)

Stars have zero. They have two of their own top 10 (dumb[ash] and Granlund), and three from other teams: Duchene (Col #3), Seguin (Bos #2), Rantanen (Col #10)

By your logic, why not Colorado?

I like Colorado too. I just like Dallas a bit better because of their goalie.

I'm not saying that drafting TOP5 is a requirement for all teams. However, Army is average, and given Army's track record on finding marquis talent, he needs all the help that he can get.

Smell of Green Grass. Get the Frank out of here. Dont come on here again to troll. Nobody needs your negativity. We all know this team is heading in the right direction. The top prospects are already starting to work themselves into the lineup. Next year maybe one or two more may work in and the following year same thing. Enjoy the Blues or leave. We dont need your "awfulness" here. Let real fans enjoy this run. Real fans are happy.

Sorry that I don't see it as you do. I'm not one to sit back and drink the koolaid.

I'm as big of a fan as you are.

I honestly hope that your are correct in your assessment, but I don't see it.

Who cares about any of that? Army WANTED to trade Schenn. That is the 1--and only thing!--that truly matters. A team isn't real if its GM WANTS to trade away its Captain. Can you imagine a ship on the ocean without a Captain? It would sink. Keeeerrrrpluuum! In fact, it would probably crash right into the smelly green stuff between the Statue of Liberty's legs. Short trip. All because Army WANTED to trade him.

honestly--say whatever the hell you want. its just a hockey forum. Its not that important or serious.
At some point you acquire enough picks--you have to make the playoffs and develop a winning culture.
I think this run has been huge for this organization. The Playoffs are important for the players. The intensity has to be experienced.

Teams like Buffalo and Anaheim--loaded with picks--may have a hard time learning how to win.
Enjoy the Blues. The run they went on after the four nations is remarkable. Best team in the league since them. Im enjoying it!

Would you rather really have Elias Pettersson (#4, 2017) or Nico Hischier (#1, 2017) over Robert Thomas (#20, 2017)?

What about Mittelstadt, Rasmussen, Vilardi, Suzuki, Glass, Patrick, Andersson or Norris because these centers were also all taken ahead of Robert Thomas.

Thomas at #20 is looking like the best Center in his draft class 396 pts in 466 GP +46

And Army is "average" lol what a moron poster.

Wait. I thought you were leaving…farewell and all. Really, we don’t want you here. We don’t need to read all your negativity. You are NOT Blues fan and no one would ever think you are. You are some guy who always thinks he’s right even when many tell you differently. Truly, you should go somewhere like the Avs or Stars boards and bash the Blues management. They would probably actually appreciate it unlike those of us here.
