That's just to name a few. In the Cup run didn't we find out after the fact that O'Reilly had a cracked rib? Or was it some other player. Could swear a Blues player did.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑16 Apr 2025 12:45 pm Not saying he should or could play. Just some cases in the past of those with rib issues.
Patrice Bergeron:
In the 2013 Stanley Cup Final, Bergeron not only played with a broken rib but also a punctured lung, separated shoulder, and torn cartilage. He continued to play even after discovering the lung puncture, demonstrating exceptional dedication.
Brock Faber:
As a rookie, Faber played with fractured ribs for two months, highlighting his ability to perform at a high level despite the injury.
Leon Draisaitl:
Draisaitl reportedly played with a broken rib sustained during a hit in the playoffs.
Nikita Kucherov:
Played in the Stanley Cup Final with protection from a flak jacket and pain medication after a rib fracture during the playoffs.

Re: Holloway
Blues center Ryan O'Reilly, named Conn Smythe winner as the playoff MVP, told reporters after St. Louis's Game 7 victory that he had been playing through a cracked rib since the second round of the postseason, when he sustained the injury in the middle of the Blues' series against the Dallas Stars.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑16 Apr 2025 13:08 pmThat's just to name a few. Re: Holloway
My daughter has wrestled quite a bit with separated and broken floating ribs and I just had one about a month ago(because that is what happens when your kid wrestles, your old, and they want you to "help them train) it sucks for sure. She also wrestled a lot of this highschool season with a broken Zygomatic Bone(cheek bone)
Hockey players are built different and wrestlers are just on another level.

I couldn’t agree more. I thought ribs right away. The first thing I noticed was where the point of contact was. The hip check clearly drove upward into his side and his reaction looked like he took a kidney shot from Tyson.Aesa wrote: ↑16 Apr 2025 11:53 amYour thought of a hip pointer has some validity but from watching the replay ad nauseum, I am convinced it could be a broken or separated floating rib injury. I have suffered that injury in the past. It is very painful and takes a good amount of time to fully recover.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑16 Apr 2025 11:47 amYeah, JR just said this morning he's skating but not doing an overly "strenous" activity. So he's stickhanlding and skating, but definite no contact yet. Seems most are guessing a hip pointer which tbh I know nothing about except they're apparently painful.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑16 Apr 2025 11:43 amseemingly we would need a deep run. But a deep run might just be a 7 game 1st round series and get to the 2nd round. Remember, 7 games is 14 days. So possible to see if we made it a 2nd round appearance from hollywood.southernblues wrote: ↑16 Apr 2025 11:22 am Will he be back in time for the playoffs? Or is he out for the year?
Some have said hip injury which is always possible but it certainly wasn’t where the impact was.

You don't have to be a hockey player for that to be excruciating.

Re: Holloway
I've read rumors supposedly from people who know people connected to the team (on another blues forum) that it's a hip injury. I don't care if you believe that or not ... just passing it along.

Re: Holloway
You don't have to disclose what the injury is, but I believe it is against league rules to lie about the location of the injury which is why they give you so much latitude and the option to say either upper or lower body injury.Nublues69 wrote: ↑16 Apr 2025 12:18 pmDo you really want to let other teams know he has bruised cracked ribbs especially in the playoffs. I wouldnt cause they are horrendous when you get hit by someone
Now what the league defines as an upper and lower body area I'm not sure.
Re: Holloway
I didnt see the game Holloway got hurt.
Is there a link to the hit & who hit him?

Re: Holloway
Once he starts practicing with the Blues we'll know hes close. My guess with no other information than is known publicly is at least two more weeks
