Good for Tennessee. The ESPN article said Nico and reps reached out to Oregon earlier this week before sitting out practice and Oregon said “no thanks”.

I’m sure he stills ends up at a big school but I bet Nico gets closer to his current NIL deal than the 4M he wants.

At some point for these blue chip guys they have to realize the real goal should be the NFL and the 9 figure contracts they can hand out, rather than milking every last dollar out of your school or jumping into the portal every year. Throwing yourself into total uncertainty when you could be a year away from the NFL over a million dollars, silliness.

Here's a shocker - reported that a number of high level progams are ready to jump at Nico if he can't get the $2.4M that TN had him for! Free market at work.

Makes sense. If I know anything, and I don’t but it would at least be reasonable to suspect, most teams have made commitments at this point on their 2025 roster that they can’t/won’t walk back now. Fitting in a new guy looking for a big payday at the most expensive position this late in the game would seem to be a challenge most teams aren’t willing to take on.

Someone eventually will but I’ll be paying attention to the kind of deal that is reported.

Given the popularity of college sports among so many members of congress, I wouldn't be surprised to see several of the major conferences join together and petition for a law exempting them from anti-trust action, a la major league baseball. Once that happens they'll be able to set NIL caps and restrict movement within the super conference. You want to back out of your NIL contrac, fine. Enjoy SEMO.

That is when the players unionize and simply sit out as a team and hold whole conferences hostage. This will happen. They players can simply dictate that they want 50% or more of the TV revenue and make 10x what they make today.

If the players sit out, they will simply get different guys to play. There are a bunch of dudes playing Div 2 or NAIA that would be thrilled to live the D1 life, even with no compensation. As long as the teams are competitive with each other no one will care and everyone will still watch. I don't care if they make a team out of random dudes from the quad as long as our dudes from the quad are better than Arkansas' etc.
