Sure it was cute and fun to see the fat guy at second base, but Marmol got lucky.
Many of us mentioned that either Fermin or Barrero should have traveled north after spring training. This was poor roster, construction, and poor foresight by having Donovan at the designated hitter.

The daily lineup is a collaborative product. Oli only has A say. The collaborative group has THE say. It’s then up to Oli to implement said decisions and then defend them to the media. The collaborative group is shielded by the folks who believes Oli has the same type of autonomy as Whitey or TLR. The reality is, very few managers today have that type of autonomy. Bochy, Francona, and maybe Craig Counsell. Everyone else, including Dave Roberts, are implenters, not decision makers.

You can argue Siani has been more useful.
Yeah, not an ideal situation last night, but it turned out to be a good move instead of removing the DH spot right away.

Bingo Basil
Mo's foolish roster construction out Oli in a tough spot.

Siani has no place on this team.
As long as Walker is in the OF, Siani has a place.

lol
Walker has been pretty good.
Not only pretty good, Walker's a +2 DRS, only +1 behind the league leaders!
He's improved dramatically under J. Jay's tutelage.
Sinai has no place on this team w/VSII establishing himself as an everyday CFer w/ a +1 DRS (tied for 3rd best in MLB).
As we saw last night, Siani here kept them from having a MI when needed.

Give Oli credit.
Playing Donovan as DH was "interesting"since he had no other infielders.
Oli is very smart because his big "interesting" move did not burn him this time.
Playing Burleson at DH and Donovan at 1B would have made things less "interesting".
Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than smart oli got lucky
It proved to be a good move.
Credit where credit is due
Just what other options did he have? I’ll give him credit when it is earned. I’ll give credit to Pages for doing his best, but Oli as manager, should have had more foresight into this possible situation.
I guess you dont want to mess with too many positions, but i wondered about shifting arenadonto 2b then walker or contreras to 3b. Contreras has played 3b before in minors.
