Why? Someone had to hit 2nd today. Doesn’t mean Contreras won’t be there when he plays next.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 13:42 pmI would

From Bernie:
Manager Oli Marmol can help the situation by easing Contreras out of the No. 2 lineup slot and letting him regroup at a lower spot in the batting order.
Paul Goldschmidt offers a good example. Last season, when Goldy batted 2-3-4 in the lineup, he hit .218 with a .641 OPS. When Marmol used Goldschmidt in the 5-6-7 spots last season, the results were much better: a .329 average and .942 OPS.

And how long did it take before he made that switch? Was 4 months, wasn't it?rockondlouie wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 13:45 pmDittoscoutyjones2 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 13:42 pmI would

My guess is Long Con's back in the 2-hole tomorrow. Marmol's the most stubborn *ss of a manager I've ever seen, especially when it comes to Contreras. In 23, he kept Long Con in the 5-hole for the first 2 months and he was hitting .150 with a .500 OPS.
I wish it were otherwise but I fear we're doomed until this guy is gone.

I said Oli wouldn't have Winn leading off to start the season...guess what, he didn't.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 13:43 pmWhy? Someone had to hit 2nd today. Doesn’t mean Contreras won’t be there when he plays next.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 13:42 pmI would
I give Oli more credit than most. He let WillyCon have 10+ games there and now a respite. I don't believe he will reinsert him back at the 2 hole. Especially if JWs performs.

This is an important early season acid test.
I have an uncomfortable feeling that we are going to get hammered.

what joke?blackinkbiz wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 13:43 pmHaha!
at both the joke and the idea of competence from this manager.
Heard Oli's postgame explanation for why he removed Fedde after 6IP and 88 pitches the other day. Paraphrasing here but:
"Well we decided before the game we didn't want to push him more than 100 pitches and since he was already at 88, just thought it'd be easier to take him then."
First, this is the regular season and your BP is suspect because your burning through arms faster than Trump goes through tanning oil. Second, you've got a no-hitter going and it's a 0-0 game. Your pre-game outline should be more fluid in that situation. Third, EVERY SINGLE BATTER matters so even if you can just get through 1 or 2 hitters, that's less strain on your BP.
Finally, and this is and will always be Paint-By-Numbers Oli's weakess: you can NOT script out games beforehand and force the game to adapt to your script, if you want to win it's the OTHER WAY AROUND. Same thing he said in 22 against the Phils. "Everything went according to script until that last inning."
I seriously hate this F more than I ever thought it was possible to dislike a manager.
what I said was not a joke.

Thanks, Crav.

Schwarber, like Goldschmidt, is bouncing between leadoff and cleanup. It used to be those roles had zero overlap. And thanks, craviduce.

Obviously Philly doesn't read into the "Pallante is harder on lefties than righties" metrics

#6 is where Contreras should bat when he returns.rockondlouie wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 13:24 pmDitto
And when WillyC returns to the lineup, he needs to be no higher than 5th and preferably 6th.

I prefer Scott the igniter at lead off, Noot seemed to come back to earth a bit
