Re: I hope Binner isn’t hurt. He seemed off after the Perry hit
Think back to the times when Binnington was under the most scrutiny by our own fan base. A lot of people were demanding he be traded etc. Throughout those times I never even for one second thought the contract was a bad contract and never did I want to trade him, not one second. I believed in him the way Jon Cooper believed in him. There were times when this was a serious minority opinion. I am ride or die with the guy.
I'm saying that as a person who can admit that Binnington escalated the situation beyond what was necessary. It's a part of him. We all have our leaks, our leverage points. In that situation Binner knows every goalie in the world is automatically on his side because they all know Perry is guilty regardless, but the escalation didn't really need to happen. The issue was Binnington himself is competitive and he urgently wanted that win and rather than let a scrum naturally develop and if what Perry did was enough to merit Neighbours fighting, then let that be its own thing. Binnington sort of over-competes and it can sometimes get him out of a good groove, that is the only concern IMO as a Binnington fan.

1. You don't know how to go about anything.theograce wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 10:25 amThen stand your ground at least and don’t skate away. Don’t make others do your dirty work. Deep down he has that little man syndrome and he knows he will get fed if he takes it to that level. That’s the worst part about him.seattleblue wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 10:21 am You're right to point out his achilles heel. When goalies do that it fires both teams up. Honestly where I come down on it is if there's a player who exists who can throw down A++ balls-out competitive performance in the two most viewed hockey games in history, and both for the right causes, then I am forgiving of his achilles heel. I also think if he could do it over he would do it. It's not like he opened a door deliberately to injure a player, he simply attacked the sort of person who plays that way. But I think he knows it took him off. He had a couple goals in this last game I have seen him save when he is more within himself.
2. Binny was being pushed back by the lineman. Too bad he didn't let him loose, he would have creamed that old man. While Perry is a good hockey player, he has also been a P[ositively] O[bnoxious] S[impleton] much of his tenure. He deserved what he got, and again too bad he didn't get more puppet boy. Go get your strings pulled somewhere else!

Well yeah…play goal…you’re pretty good at it. I was so happy to see him overcome what he did for Canada.seattleblue wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 10:36 am You're correct, but I am saying I see the good in him and it outweighs the bad by quite a bit
But take your helmet off and challenge Perry there. Look him in the eyes. Don’t cheap him then puss out and watch your teammates have to fight your battle. The refs would have jumped in as soon as he took his mask off anyways, but at least he is being a better teammate

Cheap shot him? Perry escalated the entire exchange!theograce wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 13:35 pmWell yeah…play goal…you’re pretty good at it. Everytime you make a statement like this, it leads me to believe you have never played hockey at a competitive level because every goalie would react the same way Binnington did and every player on his team would have done exactly the same thing Neighbors did. Without hesitation.
And everybody knows a Corey Perry type. They're cowards. They'll start s**t like this and then will never again get CLOSE to the net. Also, look at the time of year he pulled this stunt. Why not pull that move in November, tough guy, when there is PLENTY of time left in the season, and plenty of meaningless games for somebody to get even. But he picks a game near the end of the season where playoffs are on the line and hoping Binnington wouldn't retaliate and he could get him distracted.

Well yeah…what would you call a blow to the back of the head? What would you call trying to then attempting to deliver another blow to the back of the head and trying to drive someone’s head in the ice?bud white wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 14:19 pmCheap shot him? LOL. Focus. Binner is OUR guy, Perry is the punk that skated into his head and speared him. First, Binnington didn't start it. That jackass Perry did by kicking him in the head and spearing him.
Is that your jam? I bet it is being the whiny lil' beetch you are.
So by your logic Wayne Gretzky should have been handling his own fights if bigger players tried to abuse him. Such hockey knowledge you have.

Binnington did the right thing.
He is among THE most focused and alert humans in the NHL.
He could tell the team was literally losing it. I am sure Jobu was holding back tears in the Locker Room. Their swagger and confidence were on the ropes and sagging,
Now, Corey Perry blazes into your goalie’s neck FROM BEHIND as he lies on the ice, his back to his attacker, completely vulnerable.
There is zero doubt in my mind that Perry made as sure as possible that Binner could feel his wet skate blade on his neck, as his neck was what finally stopped Perry’s forward progress.
The game was not even halfway over and the Blues might face this (donkey)(pit) and his team (possibly) in a later playoff round only a few weeks from now.
You can not take that “lying down”.
Well done Binner. it fired the team up and dried Jobu’s tears.
We weren’t wining that game once McDavid came back from the dead,

Our guy … their guy. What are you saying? That you can’t objectively assess something? Binnington was Berube’s guy when he publicly told him to stop doing these things and that it does nothing for the teamDawgDad wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 14:51 pmLOL. Focus. Perry was lucky. Binner punched with his glove hand. When I get intentionally ran, they get the blocker.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 14:58 pm Binnington did the right thing.

Do you reckon Binner felt a bit of wet steel on the back of his neck?
Re: I hope Binner isn’t hurt. He seemed off after the Perry hit
You ever play net? Ever put on a blocker and trapper? The modern gloves are secured with several velcro straps and it is a chore to secure them AND to take them off. A goalie can't throw off his gloves at a moments notice and are at a decided disadvantage. Get a freaking clue.theograce wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 14:39 pmWell yeah…what would you call a blow to the back of the head? Typical of the "Perry" guys who pull this c**p at this time of year. Want to be a man? Do this in November when there are still several games for Binnington to give him give him a little tap to ensure that his athletic supporter and protective cup are in working order (a la Eddie Belfour and Darrin McCarty). But no, Perry does it right before the playoffs. Fracking coward.

I was wrong about the angle, but Binnington was absolutely defenseless. His skate blade smacked the bottom of Binner's mask.....
No flesh contact. Luckily.

Very much a prone position. Perry's play was dangerous and I'm sure Binner got some snow in the throat area as well as the head contact. As for him reacting, doggone right, people get PO'd when cheap-shotted. Natural reaction to retaliate. Cooler heads, yada yada Yoda.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2025 15:40 pm I was wrong about the angle, but Binnington was absolutely defenseless.
