Anyone making case for or against how an established players like Contreras will do this season is crazy.rockondlouie wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 11:19 am A lot of angst in here about Willy Contreras and his poor starts, here's some other known players off to poor starts too:

Way, way too early to make silly claims about an established ML hitter after 30 PA's when he has a career .809 OPS over 3,742 PA's.

Some big names on that list, very surprised when I saw Willy's brother William w/the same BA![]()
Re: Contreras and other's struggling with poor starts
Younger Contrera's has split time equally batting in 3 & 4 hole. Seems to depend on if Yelich is playing. Contrera's the younger, does not yet have an RBI this year. Despite that Blowers have won 4 in a row.
Re: Contreras and other's struggling with poor starts
Wonder if William also bulked up this off season. It is weird they're both struggling so similar. If I'd have thrown siamesily similar in there would have had some alliteration going on.rockondlouie wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 12:46 pmWelcome birds'

Re: Contreras and other's struggling with poor starts
I was just about to post that both Contreras brothers are combined 4-55 with 0 HR and 3 RBI (All 3 are from Willson).
Did they have the same training routine in the winter?

I agree, and would also add that many of the players on this list have not had consistent careers.rockondlouie wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 12:52 pmYepCardsBest wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 12:49 pmAnyone making case for or against how an established players like Contreras will do this season is crazy.rockondlouie wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 11:19 am A lot of angst in here about Willy Contreras and his poor starts, here's some other known players off to poor starts too:

Alveraz and Arraez are probably the most "surprising", but something tells me they will come out of their approx. 10 game slumps.

Re: Contreras and other's struggling with poor starts
I guess you're subscribing to the "misery loves company" adage. I really don't care what other players are doing, I just know that Willy, half the time, doesn't even make contact. I see he did get a ringing infield hit against the pirates to go 1-6 and raise his average. The guy shouldn't be playing EVERY DAY and definitely shouldn't be batting in the 2 hole. How long is long enough when the guy is hitting less than .100 and striking out almost 50% of the time?
