The rest of April schedule

Post by fullswing »

9 at home - 16 on the road.
13 games in a row - 7 of those on the road.
As of now, no series teams except Philadelphia has a winning record. The Cardinals will play them at home.

Not trying to make any kind of point, just talking about the rest of this month’s schedule.

More than the 13 consecutive games , the end of the month are the two big series .. Home vs Brewers at Busch ..followed by 4 at Cincy thru May 1st

If Cards have a chance to compete in the division, it is very important to have a winning record in head to head games vs divisional teams especially the Brewers. The Cards haven't done well vs. Milwaukee the past few years.

That stretch is the perfect time to insert a 6th starter or 2.

This was my thought as well, I wonder when we see the sixth starter. My guess is Thursday April 17 against the Mets.

That's the plan with Matz starting the 16th, I believe.

They already announced it would be April 16th that Matz starts as the 6th starter.

It also marks the 1/5 mark of season, plenty of time to make a reasonable deduction.

The opponents without winning records include the Red Sox, Astros, Mets, and Braves, all contenders for the 2025 postseason. I consider April to be a tough gauntlet for the Cardinals.

You’d think. But these teams are not yet in stride. Best get them early before they get hot. This includes brewers.

Interesting side note, there are presently 13 teams with winning records and 16 with losing records (1 at .500).
