I still think this team finishes anywhere from 77-85 to 85-77. Regardless, if they keep playing the same energetic, fun style they've showed so far, they'll be easy to root for.
I don't expect grand things from this group, but will happily watch a team playing hard, fundamental baseball.

If this team starts to make more noise, they're going to be easy to fall in love with.
Young guys are injecting energy and fun into the dugout, even NADO is loosening up taking the lead from his buddy Noot.
Just read what I. Hererra said after yesterdays big game/win, kid was almost in tears recanting how he came from such a poor background and was now living his dream.
Too bad Mo couldn't dump M. Mikolas on someone this spring and given M. McGreevy his shot too.

Herrera is especially easy to root for. I'm not a fan of his defense--and I hope he's next in line at first base when Contreras' deal is up...or maybe he can DH--but there's no denying that Herrera comes to PLAY and give his team the best shot he can to win. I think he's going to have a good career.rockondlouie wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 08:54 amBingoStrummer Jones wrote: ↑02 Apr 2025 15:40 pm I definitely notice a change in the energy and vibe with these guys. I had the goofy idea this winter of giving him an OF'ers glove and teaching him to play LF.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 11:00 amHerrera is especially easy to root for. Whereever he ends up, the kid can flat out hit and has to get 575-600 PA's somewhere.

There's been way goofier ideas. He moves fairly well for a catcher, so I think he'd be fine in left field. He's got a below average arm for a catcher, but probably an average/slightly above average arm for a left fielder.rockondlouie wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 11:07 amI had the goofy idea this winter of giving him an OF'ers glove and teaching him to play LF.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 11:00 amHerrera is especially easy to root for. He does run very well for a catcher, I mean Dale Murphy did it in CF after switching from catching and he was a big dude like J. Walker!Strummer Jones wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 11:09 amThere's been way goofier ideas. He moves fairly well for a catcher, so I think he'd be fine in left field. If G. Luzinski, D. Kingman, L. Smith etal can play LF, then I'd bet Hererra could too (but know it won't happen).
I'm curious to see what C. Bloom comes up w/for him to help w/the throwing.
I'm hearing he's working on throwing from his knee's (ala B. Santiago).
Whatever, that bat has to play somewhere!

If he has two-thirds of the cannon that Santiago had...that ain't bad.rockondlouie wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 11:18 amHe does run very well for a catcher, I mean Dale Murphy did it in CF after switching from catching and he was a big dude like J. One would think that if he had a bigger arm that he would not needStrummer Jones wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 12:21 pmIf he has two-thirds of the cannon that Santiago had...that ain't bad.rockondlouie wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025 11:18 am

such a wind up to get it to 2B.
Foot work and positioning, release, may all help that. Skeptical that
impaired positioning helps.
