Just some tips…

It’s generally not a good idea to telegraph your bids.

Also… the only real reason to drop a player outright is to clear room on your active roster for someone you already have, who is coming off of the IL or NA.

You can enter waiver claims with the dropped player contingent upon the added player. Just click ‘add’ by a player to add, then designate the player you want to drop.

You can also place multiple claims to fill the same roster spot.

Say you need a 3B. You can place claims on two different 3B, dropping the same player, and then adjust your waiver priority for each 3B. So if you don’t win the first claim, you have a backup claim.
Ahhh that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the heads up.
Also, if you have a free roster spot, you can put in multiple claims for the same spot.

I think you have two open spots now… so you could put in, say 4 claims on 4 different players. You can order their waiver priority afterwards, but keep in mind it will automatically put the highest bids above lower bids and claims without bids.
Alex, you weren't the only one unsure how the waivers worked. I've managed to pick a couple guys up but wasn't sure how the $ worked. Now if some of my guys who are supposedly starting the year on the DL (IL) would actually get placed so I can try to replace them...........

They should be there tomorrow. Yahoo is pretty quick about updating player status… but they have to wait until they’re officially on a team’s IL. It’s guess work, otherwise.

I figured it would be tomorrow. One did go on today (Stephenson) so swapped him and Ruiz both catchers. I may not lose much on that. The other 4 will work out one way or another. Casas I think is ok but if not I have Busch. The 3 pitchers will give me a headache. :)

Only exceptions might be Rockies & Rays… only teams w/o a game tomorrow, but I don’t think you have any.

The worst is when a team doesn’t want to put a player on the IL, or play them. Total waste of a roster spot.

Yahoo IL designations are pitiful. ESPN has had players on IL for weeks. It’s been an issue for years. They need an out designation that allows a IL move. Thats what a lot of my Leauges have moved to ESPN

ESPN stopped doing prize leagues about 10 years ago, so they can make judgement calls. Yahoo uses the same player designations in free leagues as pay leagues, so they wait until the player is actually on an IL.

FWIW - with regard to waivers, it might also be worth noting that "waiver priority" only gets used (and reset) if two owners put in exactly the same bid for the player on a particular day. So if you have "waiver priority" #1 and bid $3 for a player and some other owner bids $2, you will get the player and it will cost you $3 of you budget but you'll keep your #1 spot in waiver priority. If you both bid $2, you will get the player because it will go to waiver priority as the tiebreaker, but in that case your waiver priority will be reset to #15.

Also, even if you put in a $0 bid, if no other owner puts in a waiver claim, you will get the player and your waiver priority will not be reset.

Interesting trade. Will be fun to see who “wins” this one… Shaw could win RoY or be back in AAA by June, Pressly could save 40 games or lose the closer’s job by May. The only thing I’d bet on is Alec Bohm being Alec Bohm.

That was kind of why I wanted Bohm in the deal. At least that gives me a floor on what I got back.

Fair… few things…
Not banking on them, drafted May in the 20th round
Added Giolito mainly to use an IL spot
I think only May had it twice. Giolito had the brace procedure and not a revision like May had.

Either way, I don’t have any confidence in either one. Fantasy experts seemed somewhat bullish on May so I figured what the hell.
