12 teams, 5 keepers, so 60 players off the board before the draft starts.

I’m leaning towards Trout right now… boom or bust?
Well if this league ever turns into a keeper league, you get to keep track of that mess.

Trout’s risky, but if you even get half a season from probably worth it.

Would you feel compelled to take any of Christian Walker, Marcell Ozuna, Byron Buxton, Bryan Reynolds, or Willy Adames over Trout?

Top projected starting pitchers available are, in order of points, Logan Webb, Luis Castillo, Ronel Blanco, Sandy Alcantara, Merrill Kelly, Seth Lugo, Kevin Gausman, Hunter Greene. Would you rather have any of them over Alcantara?

How are you going to feel when Spencer Torkelson, Alan Roden, and Caleb Durbin way outperform their projections in our league?

I would think about Christian Walker, but I’d guess he could be had in a later round.

What’s the difference between ‘Sandy Alcantara’ and just ‘Alcantara’?

I’d definitely consider Webb, Castillo and maybe Greene over Alcantara… the Marlins are a trainwreck, and he’s not picking up Ws unless he’s traded.

Unsurprised, because projections for rookies or near rookies are always on the safe side.

What do you think of Cam Smith?

I'm pivoting, going to take Willson Contreras. 1B sucks, and there are 7 guys who need 1B... plus I can play with a late 1B and play him at C if I want.

Will get back to you on Smith, draft starting now.

Funny… I’m an idiot and took Contreras thinking about how weak 1B is… not realizing I literally have Bryce Harper (had him listed in Utility spot and didn’t even think about it)… so I have Contreras at C, Harper 1B, Ramirez 3B, Betts SS

And then went weird risky… I have Trout (he slipped all the way back to me at 83), deGrom, Scherzer, and Strider to go with sick Mookie. Yikes.

Alright, draft complete, took Contreras at 62, Trout at 83. I think I drafted the oldest and most decorated fantasy pitching staff of all-time. And this is the most boom or bust I’ve drafted, I think.

Lineup:
C - Contreras
1B - Harper
2B - Arraez (Chisholm once he qualifies?)
SS - Betts
3B - Ramirez
OF - Trout
OF - Chisholm
OF - Bleday
OF - Jung Hoo Lee
UT - Paredes
UT - Mountcastle
Bench - Nootbaar, Jack Wilson

Pitching:
SP - Strider
SP - Scherzer
SP - deGrom
SP - Verlander
SP - Kershaw
SP - Cristopher Sanchez
SP - Pivetta
SP - Sugano
RP - Mason Miller
RP - Ryan Walker
SP/RP - Nick Martinez, Bubic

Start either 5 SP / 2 RP or 6 SP / 1 RP weekly

Not sure I would’ve taken Contreras over Smith, and FFS the only reason you take either of them is for C.

Ya, you have some high volatility. Hopefully this league isn’t stiff about making trades, and you can shave some off early.

Your SP could be paper thin in a hurry. Weird though… I think all but 2 of your SP were on my staff last year.

Contreras should get way more PA than Smith. Smith averaged 3.41 points per PA in 2024, Contreras averaged 3.39. I think the Dodgers are going to try to get Smith some rest and Dalton Rushing some playing time. Smith seemed to really wear down last year.

The next 1B off the board were Christian Walker and Jake Burger. Regardless, happy mistake cause my lineup is better and I would’ve waited on catcher.

Lineup is better because you didn’t wait. You’re welcome. Now you will give me all of your good players. It will be so.

I actually tried to get some good pitching!
Fantasy Pros is known to be wrong about most things. They might have a point about your pitching, though

Liberatore in your BP?
That was really stupid. I was eyeing Fairbanks, but someone nabbed him.
Much more valuable in fantasy as a starter, provided he doesn’t suck. Relief pitchers that do not accumulate Saves are generally useless in this league.
Good to know. Looks like Sugar Shane might be back from the dead. Day to day, best case from his proctnosis SP>).
Something wrong with his butt too?

Just some tips…

It’s generally not a good idea to telegraph your bids.

Also… the only real reason to drop a player outright is to clear room on your active roster for someone you already have, who is coming off of the IL or NA.

You can enter waiver claims with the dropped player contingent upon the added player. Just click ‘add’ by a player to add, then designate the player you want to drop.

You can also place multiple claims to fill the same roster spot.

Say you need a 3B. You can place claims on two different 3B, dropping the same player, and then adjust your waiver priority for each 3B. So if you don’t win the first claim, you have a backup claim.

Also, if you have a free roster spot, you can put in multiple claims for the same spot.

I think you have two open spots now… so you could put in, say 4 claims on 4 different players. You can order their waiver priority afterwards, but keep in mind it will automatically put the highest bids above lower bids and claims without bids.
