Track record for guys with 2 Tommy John surgeries is not good, and that looked bad to me.
He also has Buehler. Throw in Senga, and I guess he was hoping for medical miracles?

McClanahan was worth a shot. Maybe not 7th round, though.

There are eight Matts, currently on anyone’s team.

Matt Olson
Matt McLain - mattmitchl44
Matt Chapman - mattmitchl44
Matt Wallner - mattmitchl44
Matthew Boyd
Matt Strahm
Matt Shaw - mattmitchl44
Matthew Liberatore

Is Matt trying to control all the Matts?

That’s a lot of Matts, Matt.
He's leading the league in Matt's

@Quincy…

Thought I’d share some of the biggest reaches on keepers, IMO, in my H2H 12 teamer. As a reminder, rules are have to start the draft with 5 players - so, can keep up to 5 with at least one pitcher, can keep as few as 3 and pick guys predraft.

4 of the 12 only kept 3 players. Their picks in the first predraft round:
Schwarber, Sale, Framber Valdez, Jackson Holliday

The guy that took Holliday also kept James Wood and Westburg, then picked Schwellenbach for his 5th.

There were then 6 picks in the second predraft round:
Clase, Josh Naylor, Devin Williams, CJ Abrams, Schwellenbach, and Junior Caminero

Wyatt Langford, O’Neil Cruz, Jackson Merrill, Dylan Crews, Michael Harris all were kept

Only one guy kept 3 SP - Blake Snell, Dylan Cease, Bryce Miller. Workhorse SP can pile up points. I did keep Strider

So I have the 2nd overall pick (pick #62) - up for debate:
Logan Webb, ADP 50, SP 16, two straight 200 IP seasons. Boring but fantastic this spring.
Sandy Alcantara, ADP 104, SP 43… would be an overdraft but potential ace and keeper moving forward. 0.00 ERA 0.97 WHIP in 5 spring training outings
Aaron Nola, ADP 60, SP 15. High floor but never a keeper

Top projected hitters:
Christian Walker, ADP 61, 1B 9. Oblique scares me off
Buxton, ADP 69, OF 45. Risky
Bryan Reynolds, ADP 59, OF 26. Boring but consistent, high floor. Would be safe pick.
Marcell Ozuna, ADP 74, utility only.
Mike Trout, ADP 52, OF 23. Very tempted.
Adames - no
Yelich - no
Nimmo - no
Semien or Altuve?? Both ADPs in the 40’s. I should probably do this.

Right now I might have:
Webb
Trout
Alcantara
Altuve
Semien

As my 5 best options. Thoughts? Altuve soon to have 2B/OF would be nice.

Maybe his middle name is Matt? FanGraphs had this to say about him:
If you’re looking for the next Mason Miller, Henriquez is an outstanding candidate.
I think he's expected back in April, so a short term stash.
(bleep) just looked at his minor league stats, nice find

Im thinking pre-draft might be a good spot to secure the PITA picks like C & RP, but it doesn’t look like that’s where you’re leaning.

Of the guys you mentioned, I’d probably go with safe bets - Webb & maybe Altuve. Otherwise, what is there left in the way of catcher/closers?

William Contreras is the only catcher kept. I’ll look to overdraft Willson maybe at pick 83 or 86. I think I’d have to take him before the swing picks.

I rarely spend a high pick on either although a premium closer is valuable. It’s a weekly lineup with a max of 2 RP spots (either 5 SP + 2 RP or 6 SP + 1 RP)

Good to know. Looks like Sugar Shane might be back from the dead. Day to day, best case from his proctnosis (SP>).

Following my strategery, you could probably snatch Will Smith & Helsley, or Scott.

But it seems like you could have a lot of top guys off the board in the pre-draft… so maybe Webb + Trout? One safe guy, one high ceiling guy.

The predraft is done, I listed who is available for the actual draft which starts tonight. I have the 2nd pick, then 23rd, which are 62nd and 83rd overall.

Not that complicated.

12 teams, 5 keepers, so 60 players off the board before the draft starts.

I’m leaning towards Trout right now… boom or bust?
