Re: Bolduc's Potential
I hope I'm wrong, but the Shannahan comparison is way out of bounds IMO. Even Courtnall is a reach. It's certainly fun to watch the young'uns develop into real NHL level players.
Re: Bolduc's Potential
While I hated the penalty call as I thought it should have just been a roughing. I liked his grit.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 15:32 pm Bolduc is really surprising me in a great way. I love the intensity to his game these days. Not sure if that’s the Montgomery effect or what, but he really looks great at this point.
Re: Bolduc's Potential
Start Shenner with what's working with Hollywood and Kyrou Jake and boldy have talent but can protect dd better. Make DD push Shenner down before you give it to him.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 17:10 pm Buch, Thomas, Snuggerud

This could potential be the top nine next or at least the year after. All 20+ potential for goals

Seriously? He’s not even in the same stratosphere as Shanny, and Ive been a Bolduc fan from the beginning.StLouis-4Life2 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 12:52 pm Now that Bolduc is showing some grit, I'm trying to figure out who would be a good comparison for his high end potential. Only one I can think of that would throw checks, have a really strong mid range shot but still be able to get some clean up goals around the net is Shannahan. Do the rest of you see him as having the potential to be a left handed Shannahan?
If he becomes a 50 to 60 point a year player, Ill take it with a smile.
He has a little Nelson Emerson in him. Emerson had the occasional grit like Bolduc shows, while being finesse, like I see Bolduc being.

Scott Young comes to mind.

Where’s Snuggerud?Ace07 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 16:50 pm Solid overall game, but doesn't do any one thing particularly well. Can hit, can play physical and has a solid shot. Compete level is there and plays solid defense most nights.
With more ice time, the best comp I can think of is Alex Killorn. Solid all around middle 6 forward, 40-55 points and 100 hits or so each year. Ideally, he's a 3rd line winger on a playoff run team. I'd try to lock him up for 4-5 years. Another comp could be Vladimir Sobotka with a bit more speed and a better shot. Ideal 3rd line winger, but underwhelming top 6 winger. Would love to see us get a 2C like John Taveres for a few years, and have an elite 2 way 3rd line. Dvorsky makes a lot of sense on wing w/Thomas. I think we see that by the middle of next season. Need to trade Sundqvist, Joseph or Texier. There's no space for all of them them having both Toropchenko and Walker signed too for 2025-2026
Buchnevich-Thomas-Dvorsky
Holloway-Taveres-Kyrou
Bolduc-Schenn-Neighbours
Torop-Sundqvist-Walker
Joseph extra man
Texier traded in the offseason.

I'd like to see Bolduc-Thomas-Neighbours together for a few games.
Re: Bolduc's Potential
They put Taveres on the team so this is obviously next season…Aesa wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 22:21 pmStill playing in the NCAA tournament.noted wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 21:49 pmWhere’s Snuggerud?Ace07 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 16:50 pm Solid overall game, but doesn't do any one thing particularly well. Him having an end of the year like this will make it really hard for Ottawa to demand more being added than him and Kyrou for Brady.

Are you in favor of that trade?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025 09:57 am Him having an end of the year like this will make it really hard for Ottawa to demand more being added than him and Kyrou for Brady.

Not necessarily, but if you want Brady it's going to hurt some.dhsux wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025 10:34 amAre you in favor of that trade?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025 09:57 am Him having an end of the year like this will make it really hard for Ottawa to demand more being added than him and Kyrou for Brady.

Re: Bolduc's Potential
This is what I was thinking as well. He’s faster than DP, but there are some similarities for sure.
Re: Bolduc's Potential
I don't get the Snuggerud over Bolduc snub. One guy is showing he can play in the NHL and the other guy we don't know yet what he can do in the NHL.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 17:10 pm Buch, Thomas, Snuggerud

I'd like to see.
Holloway-Thomas-Bolduc
Buch-DD-Kyrou
Neighbours-Schenn-Snuggerud
Assuming we don't go get a 2C which I would prefer and have Schenn as depth but starting on the wing.

Re: Bolduc's Potential
I've been saying he is the heir apparent to Perron towards the end of his career for our PP. Bolduc and Snuggs have the 2 best shots in the system. Bolducs ceiling is tied directly to what kind of output he can have on the PP. I believe you will see him eclipse 30 in years if he finds himself a home there as a shooter. What I did not expect was his 5 on 5 play to be as good as it is so early. I posted this in another thread. But Sunny and Bolduc are 2 and 9 respectively in expected goals against when on the ice for players with over 500 minutes this year. That means they have been absolutely locking people down all year long. Who saw that coming? I know that is Sunny's M.O. but Bolduc was billed as an offensive weapon. What I have seen is a guy who mucks it up and hits people, and is trying to find ways to get his shot off. I don't think he will ever be the highlight goal real guy that we have seen this year out of Holloway and Kyrou where they burn the defense. But he could totally settle in like you said as a pest who can have a nasty release on his shot.
