Bolduc's Potential
Now that Bolduc is showing some grit, I'm trying to figure out who would be a good comparison for his high end potential. Only one I can think of that would throw checks, have a really strong mid range shot but still be able to get some clean up goals around the net is Shannahan. Do the rest of you see him as having the potential to be a left handed Shannahan?

I was thinking maybe Geoff CourtnallStLouis-4Life2 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 12:52 pm Now that Bolduc is showing some grit, I'm trying to figure out who would be a good comparison for his high end potential. Re: Bolduc's Potential
Courtnall - yes. Not Shanny. He doesn't fight. Also doesn't have offensive upside of Shannahan.
Re: Bolduc's Potential
I think somewhere in between Holloway and Neighbours. Not quite the complete player of Holloway, not quite as gritty as Neighbours. Maybe a more natural finisher than either, though. It's great having all 3 guys - add in Stenberg who is a water bug, too.
I love his compete level, going through the system I thought he was more of a boom/bust type but he's showed he can play more than one type of game. Awesome to see how he's developed.

Re: Bolduc's Potential
Bolduc is really surprising me in a great way. I love the intensity to his game these days. Not sure if that’s the Montgomery effect or what, but he really looks great at this point.
Re: Bolduc's Potential
I expected him to come around offensively and I don't think he's near his potential in that regard yet. I'm definitely surprised by his physicality and checking, far better than I expected. I guess I envisioned another Kyrou but Bolduc strikes a healthy balance between power forward and skilled winger. I see some Perron in him but G. Courtnall is a good example, though isn't Bolduc more attentive defensively?

Re: Bolduc's Potential
He seems to be following Neighbours progression, improving year after year, so whether he hits 20 this season like he wants to, I'd like to see mid 20s next season, then maybe a 60+ per season point scorer, which is where I'd like to see Neighbours, but he's probably more mid level 20 goals/40-50 points or so. If both can produce Top 6 points Blues are in a solid position at forward.
Re: Bolduc's Potential
Solid overall game, but doesn't do any one thing particularly well. Can hit, can play physical and has a solid shot. Compete level is there and plays solid defense most nights.
With more ice time, the best comp I can think of is Alex Killorn. Solid all around middle 6 forward, 40-55 points and 100 hits or so each year. Ideally, he's a 3rd line winger on a playoff run team. I'd try to lock him up for 4-5 years. Another comp could be Vladimir Sobotka with a bit more speed and a better shot. Ideal 3rd line winger, but underwhelming top 6 winger. Would love to see us get a 2C like John Taveres for a few years, and have an elite 2 way 3rd line. Dvorsky makes a lot of sense on wing w/Thomas. I think we see that by the middle of next season. Need to trade Sundqvist, Joseph or Texier. There's no space for all of them them having both Toropchenko and Walker signed too for 2025-2026
Buchnevich-Thomas-Dvorsky
Holloway-Taveres-Kyrou
Bolduc-Schenn-Neighbours
Torop-Sundqvist-Walker
Joseph extra man
Texier traded in the offseason.

Re: Bolduc's Potential
Buch, Thomas, Snuggerud
Hollaway, DD, Kryou
Neighbors, Schenn, Bolduc
This could potential be the top nine next or at least the year after. All 20+ potential for goals

Re: Bolduc's Potential
His prolific scoring in the Q league was pretty crazy. I get that's that and this is this but still I believe he has a lot more to offer on offense with more games under his belt. He has a great shot.
I too am very happy with what I'm seeing playing the body...and that double cross check last night he responded with ....woooah baby.....he's all in.
Too early to predict but potential wise he could have some big numbers ahead and potentially rank among players like a Jaime Benn 60-80 a year if he earned the ice time.
I'd be thrilled if he can keep up with Dylan's play and results. He's likely already a top 50 Power forward.

Re: Bolduc's Potential
Right I feel like a 100 pts in any league makes you a pretty legit prospect. Definitely feel like if he starts shooting more he could put up 30+ a year. Heck he already basically has 15 on the third line as a rookie, just think if he actually played on the first or second linedhsux wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 17:19 pm His prolific scoring in the Q league was pretty crazy. Re: Bolduc's Potential
After looking at Courtnall's stats in Vancouver I could get behind that comparison... didn't realize he was that good.
Re: Bolduc's Potential
Top-6 contributor - I'm still not ruling him out as a center either (though wouldn't bet on it).
I've mentioned how I've been high on him since the draft and especially his last year of Jrs when he fully rounded out his game.
Been thinking maybe like a Perron but don't want to place any limits on him.
