Who is the one that insists on Liberatore being a starter?

If the Cardinals were smart enough to have traded Fedde for prospects they wouldn't have had to make the Liberatore-McGreevy choice.

Do we know there was a market? He is a journeyman who doesn’t have a track record of success. He started strong last year but came back to the norm at the tail end. It makes no sense to give him away if there was no market. Give him a chance to prove himself building a stronger trade market.

He had a 3.72 ERA/1.20 WHIP in 10 starts for us and his peripherals were nearly identical with both the White Sox and Cardinals, so I’m not sure I would exactly call that “coming back to the norm”. Heck he got roughed up in his first start with us and over his last 9 starts he had a 3.20 ERA. He was a pretty darn good pitcher all year. And he finished the spring with a 3.72 ERA as well, which is promising. I think he’ll be a pretty good starter for us and I think we’ll be good enough that he doesn’t get traded.
