I agree. In that meeting he needs to tell oli he ain’t a lead off hitter.Baseball Savant wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 11:44 amYou should realize the player is accountable to improve, but the tail wags dog in the organizationscoutyjones2 wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 08:55 amYou realize players have to accept and take the messaging from coaches?Baseball Savant wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 00:37 am Observation he started jacking balls late last year and got in a mechanical funk
His swing was fine until the long balls came
Watch the videos between 2024 and 2025
He is pull happy, off balance and is making weak contact
Why can’t the coaches get thru to him or do they even try?
Hate to see a great talent go into a funk - there is no accountability in this organization![]()
Winn is a brilliant talent but needs a come to Jesus meeting
I sure hope Winn is going to flip the switch when the season starts for real

It might be prudent to NOT expect any switch flipping.
I just hope his D does not suffer if his O slumps.

I think you are exactly right and nothing wrong with Winn being pushed. I’m just not going to let his second year define him. I’m a big believer in sophomore jinx.2ninr wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 08:25 amTrue. But if he has a horrible year offensively and Westherholt has a good year and advances quickly to aaa, Winn might need to be looking behind his back. Especially if Gorman comes around. Or Saggese has a big year in aaa. Or if Scott arrives and we're looking for at bats for Donovan. I'm a fan of Winn. I think he will come around. But if he doesn't, he's not like the big contracts we play regardless of their performance. And we don't need to trade or sign a guy in free agency to replace him. If Westherholt is ready and Winn isn't performing, he's on shaky ground.

I think he will heat up with the weather. It's probably a combination of things. I think he's gotten into some bad habits. He hasn't forgotten how to hit. When the games start counting and he still is hitting poorly in a month than I'm concerned.Jatalk wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 15:00 pmI think you are exactly right and nothing wrong with Winn being pushed. Observation I don’t have to be in clubhouse to see the problems with Winnscoutyjones2 wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 08:53 amYou know this how?Baseball Savant wrote: ↑22 Mar 2025 19:30 pm Got homer happy and yet no one in organization has confronted him to correct
Players and coaching failure in progress
Try critical thinking it will open your mind
Re: I sure hope Winn is going to flip the switch when the season starts for real
I’m not terribly concerned yet, it’s spring training and these players are human. And they are working every day to improve and sometimes it does click and they go on runs. So far every player no matter how good or bad they are in spring training start out at .000/.000/.000 with 0 HRs and 0 RBI and 0 Runs on opening day. Obviously you do want to see them show some success in spring training, but it doesn’t really matter at the end of the day as long as they are putting in the work and trying to get better.

If true, it was a stupid decision by Winn. He is not a HR guy. Besides, the pull and crank philosophy is not a good idea in MLB. Look at Gorman. These guys should utilize their strengths. Winn needs to focus on hitting to all fields. Gorman needs to focus on contact.ramfandan wrote: ↑22 Mar 2025 16:33 pm As Winn freely admitted in recent articles, He came into camp with idea on working on pulling the ball to get more HR's .
That is not what Brown was anticipating as Brownie was very pleased with Winn going to the opposite field in 2024 where his batting average soared.
If he could flip the switch quickly , he would have done it this past week. Seems obvious , he developed some bad habit(s) at the plate.
Hoping that Brown can get him back on track but it's going to be up to Winn to battle out of this . A coach does not hold and swing the bat for you.
It sounds like Brown has a better philosophy than we've tried to incorporate the last few years. Hopefully these bone heads listen and make some changes.
