Anyone that thinks that the Blues "have enough" quality prospects, please read. Remember that the goal is to have the best players in the NHL.

I'll take watching meaningful hockey games any day before having to sit through a rebuild year after year while never knowing when you'll be watching another meaningful game again!

No team can afford to have the best players in the NHL. It is an economic impossibility.

Sadly, you may be right.

The other thing to note is that the Blues have zero TOP50 talent at the moment. If any team in the NHL needs a star/marquis player right now, it is the Blues. The jersey-makers don't even have a clear choice.

So are the TOP50 NHL players playing in the NBA? The NFL? Where are they?

I have no idea what you are trying to say here.

You said the goal is to have the best players in the NHL. I am telling you with a cap it is an economic impossibility.

Unless you luck out with a draft pick or two, the max number of top50 talent you will have on your roster is likely 3.

Problem is, you'd have 3 players taking up 30%+ of your cap space which makes you lesser in other areas.

I have no idea why you are so obsessed with having a top50 player. Would it be great? Sure, but it guarantees nothing.

Most of this jazz comes down to common sense - it isn't nearly common enough. Winning is better than losing. Start there.

The ranking reflects the state of the talent in the organization.

Most teams have at least 1.
Even more teams have 1, and feel like the judges missed the 2nd or 3rd.
Even more teams have explosive prospects in the pipeline that are projected to be stars.

The Blues and their fans have NONE of these things.

What does this say about the rest of the talent? I'd say that if you don't have the cream on the top, you likely don't have the best milk either.

We shouldn't ignore these rankings. It reveals many things.

Edmonton has had 2 of the top players for 9 full seasons, in McDavid & Draisaitl, but with no Cup

Ya know, your obsession with jerseys only displays your downright ignorance and stupidity. Do you think Army or Monty or Steen or any of the players is sitting around the effing rink talking about jersey sales? Do you think Armstrong has ever once drafted a player or made a trade based on the “jersey-makers”? I mean, I realize you’re a troll (and a completely moronic one at that) and you’ll deflect and say I’m an Army shill or whatever insult your insipid mind can come up with, but you have the smarter than this fella.

Why don’t you sit a few plays out, reassess your life choices, maybe leave your moms basement, fill out a job application or two, and see what happens when you venture away from your keyboard? You might find that being an ignorant internet troll isn’t as good as it gets.

No, most teams simply don't. There are 24 players on 32 teams, that's a total of 768 players.

That means 7% of the players in the league are in the top 50.

So no most teams don't have at least one player in the top 50. Before the trade Colorado had 3 of them. Now Dallas has 4 of them. Winnipeg who might win the Presidents trophy this year has 2.

On 3 teams that's 8 of the top 50. It's a completely idiotic argument.

To quote one Herb Brooks "I'm not looking for the best players, I"m looking for the right ones"

I'll take my chances with a better TEAM than a team with Connor Bedard right now.

I gotta ask at this point what are you doing? You know who you are arguing with. When I made the comment about CA I figured you and aesa would remember him. Aesa did as mentioned upthread. He’s not here to discuss anything. He’s as pure a troll as it gets. I’m amazed he hasn’t asked you to choose your side wisely. My dog, who likes to run into closed doors, eat sticks and lick himself knows more hockey than the OP and it’s not really close.

BTW everyone needs to be careful calling him names because he will tattle to the mods. I got a note about it after I did it earlier in the thread. Heads up backesdraft.

Great minds discuss ideas;
average minds discuss events;
small minds discuss people.
The smallest of minds discuss what people posted 5+ years ago.

I have never once tattled to the mods about anything or anyone. Not ever. I fight my own battles.

As I have always said.... I love when stupid people post their stupid ideas next to mine. The more the better. My ideas sell better when they are stocked on the shelves next to the poor-quality items.

Talk all you want, George Zipp. I encourage it. Call me 10K names if you wish.

Yep, and how has that worked out for Toronto?
Nashville “won the offseason Cup” where are they in the standings again?

Of course we all want top players but it isn’t solely the answer.
