Yep. And we're the only ones "stupid enough" to keep trying to make it in, under this scenario.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑19 Mar 2025 08:29 am So it's his belief that 4 teams that are all within 4 points or less of the 8th playoff spot have given up on the season and are just phoning it in because they all have a playoff spot secured.
Did I get that right?
I wonder if he knows what the difference is between picking say 13th (the highest the Blues could reasonably pick, if they just quit trying) or picking 17th (reasonably the furthest their pick would fall if they peskily insist on trying to win), in terms of producing NHL talent?
From 2010 to 2020, here are the 13th and 17th overall picks:
13th
Joey Hishon
Nathan Beulieu
Tomas Hertl
Curtis Lazar
Travis Sanheim
Kyle Connor
Dante Fabbro
Timothy Liljegren
Ty Smith
Peyton Krebs
Lukas Reichel
11 guys, 2 top six players, 2 top 4 D, and a bunch of suspects. 4/11 odds to land an impact player.
17th
Brandon Gormley
Sven Baertschi
Radek Faksa
Josh Morrissey
Jakub Vrana
Jakub Zboril
Jake Bean
Nick Suzuki
Ty Dellandrea
Spencer Knight
Seth Jarvis
11 guys, 2 top six players, 1 top 4 D, and a starting goalie prospect. 4/11 odds to land an impact player.
Imagine that.
