Could they move Gray? Yes, but they would have to absorb a lot of salary. IMO he is the guy that is most likely to make a positive impact on the younger pitchers. Our pitching coach doesn't have MLB experience, so we need someone in the bullpen/dugout/lockerroom to teach them about pitching at the MLB level. He appears to be the vetran most likely to be willing to share and teach. His value is keeping us out of the NLC basement and making the younger guys better.
His present value might not be seen until 1-3 years down the road.

Re: Could the Cardinals move Gray?
I have a nasty feeling Gray is just an injury waiting to happen.
I wasn't thrilled the way he finished last season and am suspect of his spring performance.

Some really good discussion despite the noise.

Re: Could the Cardinals move Gray?
Could the Cardinals sign......ME? yea, I know. I'm old, can't hit a curve, and can't pitch, but imagine if i was 25, had power, and hit around .318, oh, and a switch hitter.
So??? Would the Cardinals sign me if all those impossibilities were to happen? Or, if not the cardinals, how about another team that is close to Nashville, like, the Braves maybe??

Cardinals do not need to move anymore salary.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 16:06 pm I would think both Cincinnati and Atlanta would be destinations Gray would approve. Cards need to move salary and make room for McGreevy and Matthews. Of all the high salaries players remaining, I would keep Contreras and Helsley.

If that’s the case why did he tell The Cardinals he wanted to stay in St Louis and would not wave his no trade clause period?redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 16:06 pm I would think both Cincinnati and Atlanta would be destinations Gray would approve. Same here. I know it’s Spring but from what I can tell his velocity is down also. Guess we will find out soon enough.11WSChamps wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 18:56 pm I have a nasty feeling Gray is just an injury waiting to happen.
