If the Blues win tomorrow at Dallas and Calgary loses to Carolina, the Blues will be in the second wild card position.

2/28 Results:

Dallas W over LA regulation win - Good Result
Colorado over Minnesota regulation win - Good Result.

3/1 Results:

Florida W over Calgary regulation win - Good Result
Blues W over LA regulation win - Good Result
New Jersey W over Utah regulation win - Good Result
Seattle W over Vancouver regulation win - Good Result

About as good as can get over the last 3 days honestly, but i wont retrace further back will just continue from here.

Tomorrow:

Boston @ Minnesota - Would be nice to have a boston win. Minnesota is close to swapping places with Colorado in the standings
Calgary @ Carolina - clearly rooting for a Carolina win
Blues @ Dallas - clearly rooting for a Blues win.

Monday:

LA @ Chicago - can help, but monday overall is not likely to move the needle all that much.

3/2 Results:

Minnesota Beat Boston in regulation - Not particularly great, but it is a longer shot scenario.
Dallas beats the blues - kinda expected, but with the way anyone not named hofer or kyrou played it felt like a lost opportunity.
Carolina beat Calgary in OT - a clean win would've been more helpful.

3/3 Games:

LA vs Chicago - as mentioned in the post before this, would be nice to see LA lose this, but it's not a likely scenario imo.

3/4 Games:

Calgary @ Philly - Calgary is in freefall, so it's certainly possible.
Pittsburgh @ Colorado - Pittsburgh winning would be ideal, but is more to do with the WC1 slot and thus not as important.
Minnesota @ Seattle - Seattle winning would be ideal, but as with the above match it's more to do with WC1 so it's a nice to have. If seattle catches us it's because we've fallen off.

Could also root for Anaheim in the Edmonton game, but thats a really long shot to be impactful. If anaheim catches us, then we've fallen off the pace and deserve it.

We are still playing inspired hockey. We always have difficulty on Sunday nights in Dallas after a game the day before. Dallas played scummy embellishing penalties against, and the referees bought in. Our PK lacked energy and organization tonight. I expected to lose a game in this stretch. To meet the objective of paragraph 3 in the original post, we have eight more games to get seven more points. This is very doable. When the Blues beat LA on Wednesday, everything will be good again.

3/3 Games:

Chicago beats LA 5-1 - Knight absolutely owned their soul. i'm not complaining. Kings basically now forced to beat the blues to not flirt with the wild card 2 spot.

3/4 Games:

Calgary @ Philly - Rooting for Philly, keeps calgary close by despite our loss to dallas.
Pittsburgh @ Colorado - only minor implications on it's own, helps us more if they have a run of 3-4 bad games.
Minnesota @ Seattle - as with Colorado, Minnesota needs to continue to play poor for it to mean much.

3/5 Games:

Anaheim @ Vancouver - Anaheim is not too far off from a sniff of the playoffs in their own right, but we'd be rooting for them over Vancouver pretty easily. no 3 point game is important.
Blues @ LA - need this one.

Both the Blues and Kings will be coming off losses. The Kings will want to pay the Blues back for the manhandling from the Blues game last Saturday. I hope the Blues will be up for the game. It will be physical, and the Blues need to stay out of the box.

The Kings are the best team in the NHL at home. Let’s see if they can keep that up.

Exactly- If the Blues can win one of the two games, I would take that in a heartbeat

3/4 Games:

Calgary @ Philly - Philly got smoked, that helps us none.
Pittsburgh @ Colorado - Minor implications, but also didn't go our way
Minnesota @ Seattle - Minor implications, and as of my bedtime tonight doesn't look promising.

3/5 Games:

Anaheim @ Vancouver - Anaheim is not too far off from a sniff of the playoffs in their own right, but we'd be rooting for them over Vancouver pretty easily. no 3 point game is important.
Blues @ LA - need this one.

3/6 Games:
Utah @ Detroit - to keep them out of the way, we are forced to kinda root for Detroit to make them go away.
Calgary @ Dallas - Dallas winning would be a big help.
San Jose @ Colorado - San Jose winning would make it plausible to eventually catch WC1, but i'm not holding my breath. It's a minor implication match.

Tonight is (bleep) near a must win now, both the flames and ducks throttled the teams they played, on the road to boot. Strong effort and 2 points tonight

I keep thinking the flames are going to falter because their roster just doesn't add up, but they keep winning.

You are right. They just keep grinding away like Craig Conroy did as a player. I definitely would like to see them fade.

hockey jedi wrote: 01 Mar 2025 22:05 pm That's two more points, bringing the total to 4 points, toward the goal of 11 points in the third paragraph in the original post. Just need seven more points in this category.
Another two points in the third category making it six points of the eleven we need against teams with superior records in my third paragraph. We just need five more points in the seven games against these teams. Anaheim is a must win game in the second paragraph of the original post. Otherwise, tonight's win will be moot. LGB!

3/5 Games:

Anaheim @ Vancouver - No 3 point game, so it is what it is.
Blues @ LA - LA gets a point so that makes it more difficult to close on them, but 2 points helps us.

3/7 Games:

Utah @ Chicago - Utah losing helps, especially if Detroit doesn't do us a solid.
Minnesota @ Vancouver - no 3 point game.
Blues @ Anaheim - a must win in a run of difficult games.

I disagree with Friday being must win. But it forces Saturday to be must win. If you said you were taking 2 of 3 on the west coast trip, you would be happy, and even moreso if you did it both vs LA. They do that and win 3 of the next 4, we are in business.
