I read they have multiple guys about to hit IR, so he is expected to immediately get a string of games.

Other players have left the Blues to have success, just like players have come here to have success.

Good luck to him.
Well said
Agreed. Hopes a change of scenery helps Scott P. Blues got slightly more for him from NYI than they got for Burtuzzo.

The Cedar Rapids Roughriders have a poster of him proudly displayed in their arena.

Man that game was fun this past weekend!

But he’s about 5 feet tall too, so 5 for 5.

(Leddy must be coming back soon. )
Conditional 5th at that. Don’t know the exact terms
I have a feeling we just traded away another 10+ Goal, 40+pt defenseman.
Real question, did you watch him play in the defensive zone at all? We're not missing out on anything here lol

Did you watch him play?

"At even strength this season, the Blues allowed just 2.04 expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA.60) with Perunovich on the ice, according to Natural Stat Trick. This was the third-best mark on the team, surpassing defensive defenseman Colton Parayko (2.5 xGA/60)"

Notably, Perunovich’s 2.04 xGA/60 also outpaces all current Islanders defensemen and ranks in the 89.4th percentile among NHL defensemen.

Lou might just see a little Brian Rafalski in his as well. Will be interesting to see what the Isles plan is. All they have to do is get him to shoot the puck, and they will have a decent player.

Leddy must be close to returning or they are bringing Kessel back.

Perunovich played sheltered minutes with very few defensive zone starts when he did play so I don't buy that. He's also been looked over by 3 head coaches now. I hope he does well in New York, but it was time to let him go.

Do you think the Blues weren't aware of these stats? The eye test showed he was a subpar defender to put it lightly and any stat that says he is better than Parayko at anything defensive is suspect in and of itself. He has some skill (decent skating and hands) but I will be absolutely shocked if the guy can become an NHL regular. He's a very poor man's Tyson Barrie.

I almost feel like all the injuries torpedoed his chances with the Blues. The injury issue was twofold. Not only was he not playing, it also shortened the amount of time when he could be sent to the AHL without clearing waivers. I think in hindsight, he probably needed another half to full season in the AHL to take the next step and instead he was forced on to the NHL roster and then received limited opportunities. When he struggled with the Blues they weren’t able to live with the mistakes, because there were other guys at various times playing better, notably Kessel and Tucker. I hope he does well on Long Island.

Peru was effective and had decent offensive numbers when playing regular. He's not a big guy and had difficulty against bigger players. He was a gnat. He will be a 10 goal 40 point player with a slightly positive +/-. You could see his confidence growing when he started playing regular. I believe we will have the same kind of regret like the Jake Walman trade. Coaches miss on players all the time. I am a Monty fan, but Saad was starting to heat up with offensive zone opportunities when Monty came in. I don't know if someone in the org was in Monty's ear or he just watched game tape. It was a setback for Saad. Oh well, life goes on.
