The Brewers are apparently saying they wouldn't include Jesus Made in a proposal because Skubal is a rental.

The Rays also have said they are excluding their top prospect Theo Gillen from discussions.

So the Dodgers can sit back and understand they really don't have to go beyond a certain point. It's kind of like reverse competitive pricing, the teams agreeing hey listen up Tigers none of us are going to give up a top top prospect for a rental. But, someone will have to crack to get the player. The Dodgers might be the fortunate ones in that not only do they have money, they also have a farm system with as good of trade chips as anyone. And they know that they are in a position to say nah we'll just keep our prospects if they don't like the trade. I mean, Freeman and Betts are getting up in age so Sirota and De Paula will undoubtedly be valuable at some point. They've got a lot of leverage. So if they go all in to rent Skubal, that would tell you how bad they want the glory of having a three-peat.

I think the Dodgers ultimately get him (though I would be a fan of seeing the Brewers make that move and potentially knocking the Dodgers out with Skubal-Misorowski-Harrison).

What do you think happens?

Overall, this should be one of the more exciting trade deadlines. It really feels like a lot of players will be on the move (Giants and Mets up shop) and anything can happen. I think the expanded playoffs and the parity in the AL really help create the fun drama.

I guess New York and Seattle are being mentioned, as well as Atlanta.

These teams might be in a different position than TB and Milwaukee, because the latter two teams think longterm and stick to their system that works for them.

NYY, Seattle, Atlanta all 3 could have reasons to want to push the chips in and capitalize on the window they have. Seattle has a good farm system too, maybe they will be the most intent on giving the Dodgers a serious competition for a Skubal trade.

And then there's the Flubs. Let's just hope for the worst if that happens.

At this point the Brewers should empty the tank and go for it. They really need to break their playoff curse badly.

Anyways yeah they need a healthy Judge. It sounds like they will get him back, no guarantees.

They definitely got to be feeling the pressure of wanting to win a WS while still enjoying what's left of Judge's prime.

The Yankees don't necessarily need starting pitching either, but Skubal would make for a lethal playoff rotation.

They are in a tricky spot.
