Spider Man: Brand New Movie

Post by Dicktar2023 »

I liked it. It's a big mess, and the physics in this world are something out of the 3 Stooges (when the webs don't work, Spidey can always break his fall from a 10-story building by hitting every fire escape on the way down and coming to rest on the top of panel truck; he's basically Wolverine at this point). But it's a throwback to a time when MCU movies felt like they existed because we like the characters and the actors have chemistry.

And there are moments when I felt something I never would have guessed I'd feel: hope. Sadie Sink (co-starring as Worst Kept Secret Girl) makes me think maybe, just maybe, there might be a way forward for this MCU trainwreck.

It broke a record with $168M on day one. Most theaters around here have been pretty much full for the past two days.

This is definitely one of the best MCU movies. Sony is often panned (rightfully so) for the side character movies. But they’ve done a good job with Spider-Man. Might be the best IP purchase of all time?

Great cast. We finally get to see Savage Hulk again, and an on-screen transformation, it’s been way too long. The rapport between Frank and Peter added some good comedy. Sadie Sink is a bright spot for the future.

Secret Wars is going to reset everything, but if they chose the storyline that the mutants just started to appear, that could work quite well. Then they could make an actual origin X-Men movie with the first five. But with brining back the FOX X-Men again and whatever happens in the next two movies, not sure how that will play out.

The slow motion shots are some of the best I’ve ever seen. They shot those at like 420 frames per second. When re-creating these comic covers, it’s incredible that they’re able to slow that down so you can actually see what’s happening, rather than a mess of stuff flying all over the screen.

The post credit scene was pretty lame. With what’s coming next, they could’ve done more with that, rather than just playing off a gag. But I guess with all the changes recently, maybe they didn’t have time.
