Marchenko on the move
Looks like Marchenko is getting traded soon. I feel bad for the CBJ fans. He’s their best player. They can’t catch a break. Hopefully they get a fair return.

I don’t even know what you do with that franchise but I’d say its future in Columbus probably isn’t viable long term.

They may not keep their best players. But they have a rent free lease with their arena until 2039. They aren't going anywhere.

Re: Marchenko on the move
I’ve been to a few games in CBJ and they have a good fan base and a nice arena. Hopefully ownership spends enough for them to be competitive

Maybe instead of Nikishin, this is the sandbox we have been playing in. A scoring winger? I think we could make some room.

Sign me up too. If we’re going to liquidate some recent drafted players and some of our depth I’d much rather have Marchenko than Nikishin.

Marchenko and Nikishin both. Could probably live with the cost of it happened.

Sounds like it is MTL and another team competing for him. Maybe the NYR are the 2nd team.

He definitely does not but we probably won't be able to outbid teams he would sign with though.Backesdraft wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 22:05 pmDoesn’t look as if he has any trade protection though

Re: Marchenko on the move
No but he has just a year left on his (RFA) contract and is eligible to sign an extension now. I’d imagine any team entertaining a trade wants to know if he’ll do a longterm extension with them.Backesdraft wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 22:05 pmDoesn’t look as if he has any trade protection though
Columbus might move him regardless but the return for them will be better if it comes with more than two guaranteed years.

Re: Marchenko on the move
This really sucks. Columbus is a great hockey town with great fans and a really nice building. We lived in Columbus during the expansion and following years and it was some BAD hockey but the fans were always there. Cbus is a great place to live but it sure does seem like there is a black cloud around the franchise!!Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026 17:35 pm I don’t even know what you do with that franchise but I’d say its future in Columbus probably isn’t viable long term.
