Add for Pen
“Matt Bowman was given his release by Twins, likely due to 40-man issues. Bowman posted a 1.69 ERA with 25 strikeouts and 6 walks in 21.1 innings while inducing groundballs at a 54.5% rate with AAA St. Paul. MLB deal elsewhere probably awaits.”

Re: Add for Pen
I just saw this on another site (Viva El Birdos). It's an interesting option. Bruihl has been better of late, in miniscule sample size of 3.2 IP, but I'm fine either way. I wonder what Bowman's velocity has been in AAA, it has been steadily going down the last few years.

That's a "Mo move" going back to another former (failed) Cardinal.
35 yrs old in a few days.......6.20 ERA in 2025/1.50 WHiP.

When did Mo do something that would resemble signing Bowman to a minor league deal?rockondlouie wrote: ↑20 May 2026 11:12 am That's a "Mo move" going back to another former (failed) Cardinal.

Bowman was such a critical piece here, I didn't even remember him. Had to look him up. He's 34 and has a 6.20 ERA.
I agree with Rock. Let's move forward not back.

Signing Bowman to a minor league deal would be merely bringing vet talent in to see if they can help today.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑20 May 2026 16:09 pm Bowman was such a critical piece here, I didn't even remember him. Had to look him up. He's 34 and has a 6.20 ERA.![]()

It’s not like bringing Bowman in means the org is trying to rekindle 2018.

If he's cheap enough, I guess it wouldn't hurt. But I'd be surprised if he got here and made a significant difference.ecleme22 wrote: ↑20 May 2026 16:29 pmSigning Bowman to a minor league deal would be merely bringing vet talent in to see if they can help today.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑20 May 2026 16:09 pm Bowman was such a critical piece here, I didn't even remember him. I'm stoked to see more of the team's young players: Crooks, Jordan, Brycen Mautz, Hunter Dobbins, etc..
It would be fine if this team makes the playoff, but I want the organization to be laser focused on the kids coming up.

I do too. But I think in all rebuilds, you have to have some vets on the pitching staff.Red Bird Classic wrote: ↑20 May 2026 17:35 pmIf he's cheap enough, I guess it wouldn't hurt.
