Are the Blues better with this trade proposal?
I think it's likely Vancouver will select Ivar Stenberg when they draft 3rd in the draft. I'm assuming Mckenna to Toronto and Reid to San Jose. The Sedins have just been made co presidents of hockey operations. What about trading Otto Stenberg to Vancouver for Braeden Cootes? I've read the brothers would like to play together in the NHL. The Blues would be getter a center that was drafted 15th last year. It's nostalgic would be a PR splash because of the Sedin's being brothers from Sweden, then having a brother combo from Sweden as the next generational core for Vancouver.

Everything i know and see and read about him, Id do it. Id also try to expand the fdeal somehow to move up to us getting pick 3 too, by using our 3 firsts. Think about it, Vancouver would potentially get what they want..another brother combo to drum up excitement for the moribund franchise, and we potentially get what we want…a brother combo to bring back some Sutter nostalgia by havin both Stenbergs!
Has everyone thought about it yet?

They would need the #3 pick to draft Ivar, which would set up this deal. I think Otto is going to be a good NHL player, but is he going to score 25-30 goals per year? We have more depth on the wings to make a trade like this and he's more easily replaceable through the draft. We need more talent and competition at center. To me, this would be a win/win for both teams.

The biggest issue right now is the Swede in charge in Toronto has been a huge fan of Stenberg for the last few years.
It’s the Leafs…if there is a way to fock this up it’s the Leafs that will do it.

I don't see a scenario where we could trade up to take Stenberg, even for our three first rounders. As I stated above, I would rather trade our Stenberg for Cootes, who is a center that was drafted at #15. I believe Vancouver wants Ivar, and there is an opportunity for us to get more center depth and a higher drafted Cootes for Otto.

That would be fine too. I would trade Otto to Toronto for Knies. My point in this thread is that Otto has a ton of value to the team that drafts Ivar that would could possibly leverage and get more value in return.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑14 May 2026 18:43 pm The biggest issue right now is the Swede in charge in Toronto has been a huge fan of Stenberg for the last few years.

What do we have to possibly trade to move up high enough? I don’t see a trade package we could offer to do it.

Holy cow, Cujo, that's uncanny. I give you all the credit for the idea. I read that thread, but it didn't sink in at the time. I think we can leverage a player we need and possibly a better future player.Cujo's Mask wrote: ↑14 May 2026 19:37 pm Hockey Jedi - great minds think alike! I am all for this happening.

No worries…it was buried on like page 10 now. But totally agree. I like Stenberg a lot but would be happy to trade from an area of strength to shore up an area of weakness. And whoever drafts Ivar will have more motivation (in theory) than anyone to add Otto.hockey jedi wrote: ↑14 May 2026 19:46 pmHoly cow, Cujo, that's uncanny. I give you all the credit for the idea. Stenberg is good, but not a generational talent. Otto S has not really impressed me this year. Maybe I’m in the minority here. I’d be all for swinging a deal..

Does Vancouver have centers to spare? Most mock drafts I see have them taking Malhotra or in some cases Bjorck. I’ve seen Stenberg dropping to Chicago in many of the mocks.

I like your thinking. The biggest challenge would be knowing what player to target from Vancouver. Center Cootes certainly plays a position of need for us. I looked at their roster and everyone is +/- hell. There appears to be a lot of thorns and not many roses in that bush.
I like Buium, but his stats look horrible too. However, I think Buium will ultimately outpace Otto Stenberg.
