Where will Nootbaar best fit into the Cardinals lineup?
Right now, the Cardinals seem set at 1 through 5. How about the Cardinals bat Nootbaar 9th to kind of serve as the a second lead off man as the lineup rolls over?

Fifth, sixth, or seventh. If I were making a lineup right now it would go:
JJW
IH
AB
JW
Gorman
Winn
Nootbaar
Pages/Urias
Church

Nootbaar

You said leadoff (1st) in your virtually identical thread from just two weeks ago: viewtopic.php?t=1522153&hilit=Nootbaar

Your lineup proposal is how it could shake out. Or flip Nootbaar and Church if Church is showing more power and RBI production than Nootbaar. Noot and Wetherholt back to back in front of the big boppers has some RBI potential.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑03 May 2026 10:16 am Fifth, sixth, or seventh. you know how the Weather Vane works: Say stupid stuff, then 4 posts later, say something different, all the while hoping no one notices.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑03 May 2026 10:16 amYou said leadoff (1st) in your virtually identical thread from just two weeks ago: viewtopic.php?t=1522153&hilit=Nootbaar

Now that the Cardinals have proven to be very competitive. This seems to be more than just a rebuild going on. If the pitching holds up the Cardinals could be in the thick of things. And Nootbaar should help down the stretch with his experience.

It's pretty clear although others here said otherwise hes not going to leadoff.
7th or 9th will likely be the slot although Oli may get cute and start him inthe 6 position.

Not trying to be a wise-guy, but it is definitely still a rebuild going on, and the pitching doesn't seem to me like a staff that will hold up. Too many starters that don't go enough innings and too many explosive relief outings. If those things don't change, this staff will be out of gas by Aug 1.

Before seeing how effective the JJW - Herrera 1/2 combo were I thought for sure Noot would slide into either the lead-off spot (JJW/#2) or behind JJW in the #2 spot.
But no way I mess w/that now even though I don't like Herrera in the #2 hole.
For now:
JJW/2nd
Herrera/DH
Burly/1B
Walker/RF
Gorman/3B
Winn/SS
Noot/LF

Church/CF

when Noot is ready/if ready in June to join the Major Leagues, let's assess where to put him in the lineup then? Everything changes with the OP week to week...so do the players.

Probably the wise place to start and then move Noot up if production is there.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:45 amThat’s what I’m guessing it will berockondlouie wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:15 am Before seeing how effective the JJW - Herrera 1/2 combo were I thought for sure Noot would slide into either the lead-off spot (JJW/#2) or behind JJW in the #2 spot.

I'd like to have Noot up higher if he's hitting well but just can't bring myself to mess w/that 1 thru 5 right now when they're cooking.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:45 amThat’s what I’m guessing it will berockondlouie wrote: ↑03 May 2026 11:15 am Before seeing how effective the JJW - Herrera 1/2 combo were I thought for sure Noot would slide into either the lead-off spot (JJW/#2) or behind JJW in the #2 spot.

I toyed w/hitting Noot NINTH (9th), creating a DOUBLE LEADOFF man affect!
