Check out this mammoth blast by Joshua Baez

This scribe feels he'll be promoted to the Cardinals around June 1. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/to ... 8fe5&ei=15

The Cardinals will make an OF roster move around June 1, but it won't be Baez. They will activate Lars Nootbaar.

It seems Joshua Baez is in the process of making the progress that I predicted earlier here. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/ca ... 15b44&ei=5

I would be shocked if they brought up Baez instead of activating Noot.

+1

Then it's bye-bye Saggese who heads to Memphis or could it be VSII?

That would be my move too, he has no position here.

Getting PA's at Memphis could up his trade value, although he's likely nothing more than a toss in when C. Bloom deals D. May, Noot, and/or JoJo.

As bad as Saggese has been offensively. Currently, his position with the Cardinals is the backup SS to Winn. You don't mess with the future Gold Glove 2B, Wetherholt, by taking him away from 2B to cover at SS.

Baez could end up as prolific of a power threat as Walker. Maybe even more so. One way or the other, the Cardinals have a terrific corner outfield combo in the future. Who is the CF of the future to go along with them? Scott, Church, Peete, etc.

Nope, JJW stays at 2nd base accept in an emergency situation.

C. Prieto (.321 .371 .568 .939) can easily be recalled from Memphis if they want to send Saggese down.

Fermin can also be sent down too, Pozo could easily be released.

Yes, Prieto could serve in Saggese's current role. He would also give the Cardinals a fine lefty bat off the bench. However, Marmol might still want Saggese's RH bat in LF against LHP. At least for now, until Baez is ready.

Reminder: Shady spent months on here last season, this past offseason, and all through Spring Training dreaming up ways to run Walker out of town. The minute Walker or Baez inevitably has a slump, Shady will quickly move on to the next disposable “fine young prospect.” Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Fermin would play in that case. No better than he is hitting, you can't afford to leave Saggese out there for as long as it is going to take to get Baez here.

That's true on Fermin. However, for some reason, Marmol still seems to want to give Saggese more opportunities. I would prefer Baez in LF, sooner than later. If Baez cleans up the K rate and has around 10 HRs and around a .250 BA with Memphis around June 1. He could be a St Louis Cardinal.
