Bergeron/Krecji

Post by zamadoo »

I was reading some threads and thought about Patrice Bergeron being one of the best centermen of my lifetime. Comparing to Thomas and others, I thought...surely he rambled off a 100pt season or two that I forgot about, right?

False, his highest point total was the 18-19 season at 79.

So I thought, okay, Krecji must've been carrying the load, right?

False, Krecji also never scored 80 points. But, he scored nearly a point per game in the 2011 SC Playoffs at 24 years old with 20min a night, so they decided to trade 19 year old rookie Tyler Seguin, who immediately scored over 80 points with DAL (but has never won another Cup).

Their coach at the time, Claude Julien, was a Blues scout before becoming Assistant Coach 2 years ago.

I wonder what Claude thinks about Thomas?

Thomas has a memorial cup, world junior cup, and Stanley cup. The guy has literally won at every level. He had 9 points in his last 10 games before going down with injury.

Is he the elite 2 way center in the Bergeron mold? Maybe, at times he has looked the part. But I am in the opinion that we need to add more impact players, not trade them away unless multiple impact players are a part of the return.

I personally like the Thomas/Dvorsky combo that we will see for the next 3-5 years. 2 very good top 6 two way centers, one playmaking focused and one shooting focused.

Yeah I agree they're a good combo. I mentioned in a thread the other day about Thomas' legendary final junior season, being traded and then leading Hamilton to the championship. I was a big fan of his when he was young. Guess you could say I still am, but I'm wondering if he peaked. Hoping not, and would like to keep him around and have success. I still wonder what Claude Julien thinks of the pair of centers.

I personally think Thomas has more reason to want to break up with us than we do to want to break up with him.

Lots more reasons for Thomas to want to go somewhere else than there are for the Blues to want Thomas to go somewhere else.

Good point, this was something I was thinking about. Has Thomas (or anyone else for that matter) asked to leave? Or is it implied?

I have no idea but it wouldn't shock me if that is why were are hearing his name in trade talks. If Thomas wants to be here trading him would be pretty dumb.
