One of the most underrated, underappreciated pitchers of his time. 33 WAR, 2100 IP, 3.76 ERA, 3.77 WHIP, 1.277 WHIP, and yet has made only $85 MM to date.
I have neither the time nor the skill to do this efficiently, but I'd be curious if there is a player since 2012 (his debut season) who has a) reached free agency and b) produced that much WAR and has c) made less money than that.

Update: in my attempt to get with the times and #embraceAI, I asked ChatGPT to list me the names of MLB players who debuted in 2012 or later and produced at least 31 WAR. Here's what it gave me, despite not including Jose Quintana, who made his debut on May 7th, 2012 and has recorded 31.7 WAR according to BR.VegasVinny wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 10:32 am One of the most underrated, underappreciated pitchers of his time. 32 WAR, 2100 IP, 3.76 ERA, 3.77 WHIP, 1.277 WHIP, and yet has made only $85 MM to date.
