He started 107 games last year and that was the most he's ever started. I'm not ready to anoint him the 9th best anything on that resume. He's got the look of a good or maybe better hitter, but from what I've seen of him behind the plate it isn't so great. He seems to have very hard hands from what I've seen. A lot of pitches seem to get away from him. I haven't done a deep dive, it's just my eye test. Also I worry about his durability.

Most catchers in the minors do not catch everyday. They are platooned regularly by most every organization. Hopefully, with the catchers the Cardinals have, Herrera won’t be used any differently now. He proved that DHing doesnt affect his hitting, so let’s hope they play him there a lot.
