I think you can look to move Scott II
I'd keep him around throughout 2026 but would listen on interest, I bet a team would find his skillset intriguing and maybe you can get a AA level SP prospect. re: players we might thin out as roster choices loom into 2027.
For CF I think I would roll Baez out there at some point late 2026-27 and leave him there till he shows you he can't play it. You can always move him to right. You also have Tai Peete not far behind, who seems to be off the charts athletically. For Peete with the strikeout concerns I'd point to a player like JJ Bleday who might make a short career out of that skillset only Peete projects to have many more SBs, and play good CF defense. You can catch lightning in a bottle with a player like that for a few seasons.

A team headed for the playoffs might be interested in a late inning defensive replacement. Maybe could fetch a bp arm.

I would rather they move walker once he sucks again and move Baez to right so you have above average in right and centerC-Unit wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 19:26 pm I'd keep him around throughout 2026 but would listen on interest, I bet a team would find his skillset intriguing and maybe you can get a AA level SP prospect. re: players we might thin out as roster choices loom into 2027.

For a team that was nearly last in HR and SLG we need to transition to above average bats at a LOT of positions. We need a Edmonds/Trout type in Center or as close as we can get to one. Is that Baez or Peete? Or do we need someone from outside the org brought in?Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 20:00 pmI would rather they move walker once he sucks again and move Baez to right so you have above average in right and centerC-Unit wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 19:26 pm I'd keep him around throughout 2026 but would listen on interest, I bet a team would find his skillset intriguing and maybe you can get a AA level SP prospect. re: players we might thin out as roster choices loom into 2027.

Give Bloom's people a chance to work with these guys before we trade them.

They don’t need an Edmonds/trout type in center. scouts say Baez is not going to play in center he’s a corner. Trying to throw a guy into center who will be average at best defensively is silly when he would be above average in right provide the same offense and you can have great defense in center with Scott.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 20:44 pmFor a team that was nearly last in HR and SLG we need to transition to above average bats at a LOT of positions. We need someone close to it unless we are content with our ceiling being "average".Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 21:17 pmThey don’t need an Edmonds/trout type in center.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 20:44 pmFor a team that was nearly last in HR and SLG we need to transition to above average bats at a LOT of positions. The team can be very good without an Edmonds/trout type in center as long as they have good players at other positions. The dodgers are the only team in baseball with great players at every positionCarp4Cy wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 21:38 pmWe need someone close to it unless we are content with our ceiling being "average".Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 21:17 pmThey don’t need an Edmonds/trout type in center.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 20:44 pmFor a team that was nearly last in HR and SLG we need to transition to above average bats at a LOT of positions. Re: I think you can look to move Scott II
We have really let the offensive production from our OFers slide over the years. I'm sure Bloom is setting a high priority for this year to sort out which of our OFers can actually hit major league pitching. Noot is ok if he's out there with a couple other real MLB hitters. Scott and Walker can't continue to suck offensively and keep their starting jobs.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 20:44 pmFor a team that was nearly last in HR and SLG we need to transition to above average bats at a LOT of positions. Re: I think you can look to move Scott II
Well I really cant imagine a team actually trading for Scott so I thought the best we could do is a BP arm if it actually happened.

Re: I think you can look to move Scott II
Would be selling low on Scott. Should play him in 2026 and see if he steps up or if this is it.
Re: I think you can look to move Scott II
The team currently has no outfielders.
Going by what we know now, VS and Baez can coexist.

Re: I think you can look to move Scott II
I'd wait to see what he does this season before "moving on".
IF VSII could just get to a .325-.330 OB% by hitting down on the ball more & learning the art of bunting, then he's a HUGE asset playing Gold Glove level defense in CF and stealing 40-50 bases while making no money.
