Something is 'fishy' with JJ and VS II this winter in Florida

Post by ramfandan »

In a story on winter offseason prep in Florida, it was mentioned that JJ and VS II , college teammates at WVU , were hitting the ponds for some fishingfor relaxation time when not working out . They are training in Jupiter area .

“Victor and I have been tearing up some ponds in Florida,” Wetherholt said. “He’s been a great influence with stuff off the field and how to be a pro. When I was a freshman, he was a junior, so he was always kind of in that leadership role. That’s a guy I’m going to look to first to see what he’s doing and how I can follow the way he’s going about his business.”

JJ does a virtual boxing routine daily in garage for his cardio work (says he sweats quite a bit ) never been a runner type for his cadio.

Are they going after gators in those ponds or what? If I was in South Florida I’d much rather be fishing in the saltwater.

Just rent a boat for a month with a little of that signing bonus.

Good question .. Somebody should hook them up with former pitcher Miles Mikolas .. He is a native of Jupiter and still lives there ..
Fishes the intercoastal waterway area there .. saw a feature on Cardinal pregame about Mikolas being avid fisherman since a kid there.
He has a 34 ft Sea Vee boat that he takes out on fishing trips. I am not a fisherman myself but Mikolas could hook up with those two guys.

No way. If you've never fished the golf course ponds in Fla for large mouth, your missing an experience. 10 pounders galore down there!

Thanks for your insight into fishing the golf course ponds. My only experience has been my friend handing me his ball retriever to 'fish' out my golf ball that went in the water but that wasn't in Florida . Quite a few water holes here on our courses in Tennessee.

Reminds me of the story where Forsch, sutter and Whitey went fishing.

Sutter goes to clean a fish and Whitey jumps up to do it.

Forsch goes to clean a fish and Whitey watches him.

Forsch slowly realized who whitey worried about cutting their pitching hand and who he didn’t.

I remember a game where Whitey intentionally got tossed in the first inning of a day game because he was going fishing.

If the Cardinsls youngsters are losing games , Oli may get himself tossed in 1st inning to go drinking at the bar in Ballpark Village.
