Contreras, Gray, Arenado??? The intent was to get whatever they could but mostly just to get some $$ off the books --- one could argue yes in those cases. I don't think the current roster has any of those guys left, so Bloom is gonna have to be blown away by a prospect/player offer at this point -- perhaps i wasn't as clear as maybe i could have been.

Thanks for the post, Dan. Nice topic! I think Bloom wants to re-balance the roster. It’s currently too left handed and too infielder heavy. But, I don’t think he’s ready to pull the trigger on any of those deals yet. He probably wants to see the ST competition. He might trade JoJo or Noot or a catcher if the return is sufficient.

who else wpuld we trade now that donovans gone? romero maybe? thats about it. unless you are just dumpung walker or gorman for next to nothing cuz youre done with them.

i guess ivan herrera if another team sees him as catcher but cardinals determine he isnt sticking at catcher. no one else has trade value

noots got almost no value after last season. that ship is sailed. should have traded him a year earlier.

Better to trade 60 IP of Romero now than 15 IP of Romero later.

Same deal with Helsley and Fedde last year.

Keeping him risks wasting his ~$5M in value which is roughly equivalent to a Round A Comp Balance Pick.

Relievers are volatile. 50% chance that he has a bad year or gets hurt in July.

I suppose we could move Gorman but that leaves us pretty thin on the infield and we could end up rushing a kid who isn't ready.
