Scratch the Giants off the list of teams looking for a 2nd baseman!

I am not going to view this as a bad thing. We shouldn't have to trade him for a mediocre package and the Giants don't have prospect depth to trade from.

Yeah. Short of Eldridge...who we were never gonna get for Donovan...they didn't have anything I liked.

I agree, I’m actually relieved !
As I stated in another thread, looks like Donovan is going to stay a Cardinal. Both Boston and Seattle seemed to have moved on from him as well.

A little disappointed...but not at all mad at that.

If they didn't feel like they were going to get good value for Donovan, then he needs to stay. It's not like he doesn't have a spot here.

yes , several and with Noot coming off his surgery , I would want Donovan starting in LF , JJ at 2nd base , Gorman at 3rd
and go with that to start the season .

a story on MLBTR earlier in the day said Arraez was contemplating offers from several teams.
I wonder if Seattle was one of them.

I doubt it. Seattle is too smart to go for a guy whose game looked great by standards from a generation ago. The Giants are flailing around trying to escape mediocrity and this signing won't help. At least the Cardinals got off that treadmill.

Maybe it’s just me but this just shows that money is the cheapest commodity in baseball. The Giants are willing to take a 12 million dollar one year flyer on a guy who doesn’t provide much power, is a minus defender, doesn’t run particularly well, demanded to play a position that he’s not particularly good at but can make contact and can hit instead of using a couple of its prospects to acquire better talent.

Maybe it’s possible that the talent they were making available couldn’t get it done but to me it’s more likely that they acquired a guy who just cost them money, which everyone has plenty of and they get to keep their more valuable commodity, which is prospects.

His game would look great today if he was good defensively. If he was good in the field he would have got a multi year contract and had a lot of teams after him but hes garbage defensively no matter where he plays

Doesn’t seem like a terrible idea to put a batting champ ahead of Devers in the lineup. They have plus defenders at C, 3B, SS, and CF. They’ll be ok sacrificing a little defense for a guy who does nothing but put the ball in play.
