Hoops rotation going forward
Starters
Phillips
Mitchell
Pierce
Stone
Barrett
Bench in order of use
Crews
Robinson
Mack
Randall
Boateng
Northweather
Burns
I'd basically like to see the roster shrunk to 7 main guys with just a sprinkle of the others.
T.O. has been a revelation at PG of late. He's athletic, strong and aggressive. And he scores, mostly near the bucket. He knows his strengths and weaknesses. And he's good on D. Two plays stood out today. He went to the floor to get a loose ball, but the most impressive thing was that he immediately passed it to a teammate so he couldn't be tied up as often happens in that situation. Also, he was lined up in the middle rebounding slot for a teammate's FT, which was missed, and he wrestled the board away from 2 Sooners and just for good measure laid it up and in. Those are difference-making plays, and obviously Gates has noticed.
I'm looking forward to future games where he is the main PG as he has earned that as of now. Robinson's game has regressed this year.

Phillips should not be starting any more.

Phillips just has a tendency to do really dumb self destructive stuff, they want to prove what a tough guy he is by challenging the other teams players. It often happens at inopportune times for the team. He has anger issues for some reason.

Re: Hoops rotation going forward
As inconsistent as he has been id rather they start Robinson over Phillips or even Crews if you want a little more length.
The league has got Phillips pegged. He's easily triggered and the refs and other teams know it and eventually he'll do something to hurt the team.

I'm hoping TO is truly coming into knowing his limits.
He played great yesterday.....is he truly taking his game in this direction or back to his "a bridge too far" game of ability?

The former.
But the other trolls will appreciate how you sandwiched it between two negative thoughts.
Re: Hoops rotation going forward
Then play without a 5. Or let Randall have those minutes. Phillips is less than playing 5 on 4 on offense. He has been a huge disappointment. Add in the idiotic stuff that he does every game, so regularly that you can set your watch to it, and he should be nailed to the bench.
Re: Hoops rotation going forward
very impressed with Barrett the past few games. he seems to have better court vision than Robinson. gets the ball upcourt quickly and to the right players.icon wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026 00:36 am Starters

I agree with both your starters and the first 2 off the bench. I think MU has found the point guard it's been needing. Love watching TO play. Sure he makes some mistakes, but not many, and he has insane moves under the basket. Revelation is the right word. I'm beginning to think the combination of Mitchel, Pierce, Stone and Barrett is as good a foursome as anywhere in the conference. I'm also not as hard on Phillips as some. He had 9 rebounds on Saturday, and he's a strong physical presence. I'm hoping, too, that coming off the bench will wake up Robinson. Also, (in small letters, lol), I think I was hasty about Burns.icon wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026 00:36 am Starters

A few years ago we had ratliffe at the 5 and English at the 4 and did very well. Mitchell. Crews, stone, Barrett, robinson.
Re: Hoops rotation going forward
Until the Tigers ran into that big from Norfolk State whom nobody could stop. And this year, they don't beat Florida featuring a monster like Chinyelu and other good bigs without some beef up front. Phillips does play a role.happynotlucky wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026 12:17 pm A few years ago we had ratliffe at the 5 and English at the 4 and did very well. Mitchell. Crews, stone, Barrett, robinson.

A plus is Barrett seems like a great person, very team oriented. He impressed me last year in limited playing time.boulanger wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026 11:36 amvery impressed with Barrett the past few games. he seems to have better court vision than Robinson. gets the ball upcourt quickly and to the right players.icon wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026 00:36 am Starters

Re: Hoops rotation going forward
Mizzou grades out better with Mitchell at the 5 and Pierce at the 4. Phillips is horrible…has a horrible net rating as well to prove it. TO had a great game in his first start. But remember….teams didn’t scout for TO at all. But now they will, he’s caught their eyes…they will scout him. And it won’t be hard to stop him. He can’t shoot..doesn’t have a jumper, so they will scout him for the PNR as well as the DD. Keep an eye out for it.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026 08:43 amThey lack quality at the 5 spot. We have short memories, but Ant went through the same little funk last year about the same time, remember his slump last year….he will snap out of it.

Re: Hoops rotation going forward
I say start TO and have Robinson back him up. Maybe Robinson snaps out of his funk and then we have two really good guards. Robinson goes into these funks and then has a big game and his confidence is back up.Rantz wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026 19:22 pmMizzou grades out better with Mitchell at the 5 and Pierce at the 4. My hope is Robinson gets it together.
As for Phillips, you are pretty much forced to play him. I hope Randall makes strides as the season goes on!
We need all the players contributing.
However, I pretty much have given up on Boateng. He can't do anything right. He seems like a good kid but he doesn't
know how to play basketball. Hope he proves me wrong
By the way, when will Porter come back. It looks like he "has stolen" NIL money. Maybe he is hanging out with Jontay.
