James Beard nominations for St. Louis chefs

All good choices here.

But personally, I'm very tired of hearing how great Balkan Treat Box is. It's good, but you can get that style of food done just as well all over the city. And at some of those other places, you might even get a waiter. And not have to suck Coke out of can.

I was going to post this list so thanks for doing so.

It's great that our area food scene, which in my humble opinion is one of the most underrated around, gets this kind of recognition. Some comments about some of the nominees:
*El Molino-for those of you that haven't tried go get a meal. Unless this nomination gets them busier it is really easy to get a resy pretty much whenever you want including day of. I really want this place to make it and get support. The food is top notch as is the service. And it's not ridiculous price wise.
*Robin-went for the first time last week. I enjoyed the experience and most of the meal. My wife's 3rd course chicken was a complete whiff but everything else we ate was great. Good service, great attention to detail and a really clever presentation.
*Louie-one of the hardest reservations to get. We dumb lucked into a cancellation a couple of weeks ago. Can't rec enough. Fantastic
*Vicia-I'm partial bc my daughter worked there before she moved out of state. One of the best places in town. The price fix menu where they do what they want for you is always spot on. And price wise it's not obnoxious. Not cheap but such a great meal.
*Sado/Indo-Also fantastic. Prepare to pay. Worth every penny
*Root-I wonder how much locals know if this place? It's a haul but it's another hidden gem. Worth the drive, food is really on point. Great atmosphere.
*Balkan: what Dicktar said

We were at Balkan Treat Box this evening. It was truly great food, delicious and unlike anything almost anywhere else. The only place that comes close is Sultan, but even it is not exactly the same. Also, even though you do wait in line and order at a counter and pay when you order, the food is brought to the table on real plates; there's real silverware, and there are real glasses. We did not have to suck anything out of a can.
