'Sinners' breaks the record for most nominations with 16, but really only has a good shot in the Best Song/Soundtrack categories. The Academy will probably throw it a bone with the 'Best Casting' award.

No nominations for Nine Inch Nails (Tron: Ares soundtrack) or my favorite film of the year, 'Eddington'.

Agree on all this. Pretty surprised that Eddington did not get any love, it had a lot of buzz for months after its release. Certainly a more worthy BP nominee than "F1" 8O

Also kinda surprised at how overrated Frankenstein has become. It had a good performance from Elordi and good makeup/costumes, but the rest of the film is mediocre.

Oh yeah and both Hudson/Stone getting nominated but not Chase Infiniti is pretty absurd, kinda insulting really.

Clearly too many movies can be nominated for "Best Picture".

I loved "F1"! It may have been the movie I enjoyed in theatres the most last year. (Admittedly I did not see many.) I took it for what it was and it was a world of fun! That said, in no way should it be in the running in that category. The categories for which it was nominated, sure, why not? But "Best Picture"?

There are too many in the category.

They're going to be adding another new category in 2028 in celebration of the Oscars 100th birthday - Best Stunt Design.

That will also be the last year in which the Academy Awards will be aired on broadcast network television. Starting with 101st ceremony in 2029, they're going to be streamed globally, exclusively on YouTube. YouTube TV subscribers will be getting access to additional features.

That's a great idea, and way overdue.

Frankenstein looked like a cut scene in a mid-level video game. There isn't an honest photon in that entire movie. Someone with Del Toro's talent should be ashamed of himself for creating something so "technically brilliant" but soulless and artificial.

Well put. Every frame was so crammed full of pretty setpieces and/or gloomy clouds with a remarkable sunset... it all looked so annoyingly staged, I just wanted to send GDT a text "hey man less is more."

Is this the worst year ever for movie titles?

'Sentimental Value' sounds like a movie George Constanza would be forced to watch on a date night with Susan.

'Marty Supreme' sounds like a Scottish taco joint.

'Hamnet' sounds like a hair care product in Porky Pig's bathroom.

One would assume that Infinity was promoted for SA.

But then we come back to the Elle Fanning issue.
