Does Canada look nervous? (Binnington)
Does Canada look nervous? You bet.

I really hope that Binnington proves them all wrong again.

The writer {Sarah Murphy} lives in Denver. Her bias is shining thru.

Re: Does Canada look nervous? (Binnington)
To be fair, Binnington has been awful this year and Blackwood is leading the nhl in save %. I’d be pretty surprised if Canada doesn’t start Logan Thompson with the season he’s having. Binny may only get to play if Thompson struggles or Canada loses a game.Francis Park Thug wrote: ↑15 Jan 2026 09:22 am The writer {Sarah Murphy} lives in Denver. Her bias is shining thru.![]()

Re: Does Canada look nervous? (Binnington)
I sometimes wake up in the morning and think to myself - what can I post today in the forum of a team I’m not even a fan of that’ll (bleep) everyone off and show them I’m a hockey illiterate (bleep)?
But then I remember I have a life and some actual self worth and I find something more valuable to do with my time.

Yeah, I woke up like that once. But yeah, at least I did wake up.

It's not my fault that you can't handle the truth. Are you like this all the time or just when you are on BluesTalk?Backesdraft wrote: ↑15 Jan 2026 10:10 am I sometimes wake up in the morning and think to myself - what can I post today in the forum of a team I’m not even a fan of that’ll (bleep) everyone off and show them I’m a hockey illiterate (bleep)?

it's why it's likely it's the same bot using different personalities.
Re: Does Canada look nervous? (Binnington)
Should Team USA be worried?
Connor Hellebuyck has an .899 save percentage.
Ottinger is at .902
Swayman at .905

Re: Does Canada look nervous? (Binnington)
My point is ... goalie performance is dictated by the team in front of them to a significant degree.
Re: Does Canada look nervous? (Binnington)
In general yes. Especially GAA. But Binnington has been below average though for a very long time. He’s great at managing the puck…I’ll give him that, but he doesn’t deserve the net for Canada imo. He’s been bad for Canada outside of one game
Re: Does Canada look nervous? (Binnington)
No doubt that there will be a LOT of second guessing on this one. Thompson certainly has an axe to grind given his exclusion from 4 Nations. But Thompson doesn't have the "big game" cred. That is the unknown.theograce wrote: ↑15 Jan 2026 13:49 pmIn general yes. Especially GAA. But Binnington has been below average though for a very long time. On a sidenote, I received a copy of Ken Dryden's book "The Series" which revisits the '72 Summit Series vs. the Soviets. Now, I've watched all the documentaries I can lay my hands on regarding the subject and I would recommend those who are interested in hockey history to invest some time into the subject. I mention this because it somewhat parallels the Olympic discussion.
It was a very difficult series for Team Canada. They gravely underestimated the Russians and the entire country went from anticipating a route, to booing the squad of some of the greatest NHL talent ever assembled. Dryden is, in fact, quoted as saying that while he was in the room between the second and third period of Game 8, he felt he was "Twenty minutes away from being the most hated man in Canada.."
Re: Does Canada look nervous? (Binnington)
I get the pressure thing. The Russians going home in 1980 were brutalized. Binner is a known quantity in that regard, with recency bias. Now, if he really IS fading . . .bud white wrote: ↑15 Jan 2026 14:16 pmNo doubt that there will be a LOT of second guessing on this one. Re: Does Canada look nervous? (Binnington)
Binnington has a good shot for a few reasons. He handles the puck much better than Thompson and guys with a lot of influence (like Makar) appreciate that. Plus Cooper is a very loyal man.bud white wrote: ↑15 Jan 2026 14:16 pmNo doubt that there will be a LOT of second guessing on this one. He wouldn’t be my pick, but hey…we will see how it goes.

Binnington's puck management is Top 5 in the league (and some may argue the best). This really speeds the attack. And agreed - Cooper is a very loyal coach.theograce wrote: ↑15 Jan 2026 14:26 pmBinnington has a good shot for a few reasons.
