Golden Globes thread
Go Rose Byrne. Go Amy Madigan.
And of course, go Nikki Glaser.

SInce no one from Eddington was nominated, rooting for a Scandanavian sweep:
Renate Reinsve
Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas
Stellan Skarsgard
Ludwig Goransson
Joachin Trier
Also hope no one wins Best Podcast. Ridiculous category.

Skaragaard is a good actor, but i think he was miscast in that role. This is one of the few categories where I'd have preferred either option from One Battle.

It appeals to the young people. Who I'm sure all love Amy Poehler.todd-parker wrote: ↑11 Jan 2026 19:26 pm SInce no one from Eddington was nominated, rooting for a Scandanavian sweep:

Fun fact: "Pluribus" is a Latin phrase meaning "Rhea Seehorn Make-a-Wish."

By the numbers: One Battle. Hamnet. KPop Demon Hunters.
Will there be a single Oscar surprise?

Seeing recent interviews of his, I definitely see him more as the work-obsessed, distant, hard-to-deal-with father figure in Sentimental Value than whatever he was doing in those Marvel films.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2026 20:30 pm Skaragaard is a good actor, but i think he was miscast in that role. In the major film categories, I don't think there was a single nomination that was undeserved and would not have been bothered by any outcome of those awards. Only change I would have preferred would have been for Amy Madigan to win Best Supporting for 'Weapons' but horror films never get any respect.

Really want to see 'Sentimental Value'. Remember him for his sneaky turn in my first exposure to him in 'Ronin' (a film I've always loved). The Perfidious Northern Albion. Sentimental Value came & went in the theaters quickly. Will definitely stream.todd-parker wrote: ↑12 Jan 2026 08:15 amSeeing recent interviews of his, I definitely see him more as the work-obsessed, distant, hard-to-deal-with father figure in Sentimental Value than whatever he was doing in those Marvel films.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2026 20:30 pm Skaragaard is a good actor, but i think he was miscast in that role. I know Dicktar is not much of a fan of Pluribus and I get it. I'm a huge fan of Seehorn and I felt like for years she got the shaft for her work on BCS. It was nice to see her win.
Late in the show someone won for Best Actor in a Drama (I think that was the category). Football game was all but over and I got in bed and wife was watching and I looked up and I swear the guy was the actor who played Pablo Escobar in Narcos. I can look it up but I don't even know if it was actually him nor do I know the film he won his award. I need to get out more.

Re: Golden Globes thread
The father character in Sentimental Value just didn't work for me. I thought he was pretty boring. Which is one way to go with the material--maybe there isn't anything to the guy except His Work. But then why spend so much screen time with him? Every moment spent with him and Elle Fanning was another moment that could have been spent with Renate Reinsve and Inga Lilleaas.todd-parker wrote: ↑12 Jan 2026 08:15 amSeeing recent interviews of his, I definitely see him more as the work-obsessed, distant, hard-to-deal-with father figure in Sentimental Value than whatever he was doing in those Marvel films.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2026 20:30 pm Skaragaard is a good actor, but i think he was miscast in that role. Seehorn is pretty much the only thing I like I about Pluribus, and she was criminally overlooked for BCS, so I'm genuinely happy for her. I was just being snarky.George Zipp wrote: ↑12 Jan 2026 12:16 pm I know Dicktar is not much of a fan of Pluribus and I get it. Wagner Moura (of Narcos) is in The Secret Agent. That just left theaters, but it will be streaming soon. I didn't love it, but it's worth seeing, especially if you're into set design.

Re: Golden Globes thread
I figured you were being snarky. You could have done better and posted a 7000 world clark kimble post about Plurbis and how it impacted your quality of interactions with Joe Williams, your six ex wives and Zip Rezeppa at the old Route 66 Diner but I'm glad you didn't.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2026 12:28 pmSeehorn is pretty much the only thing I like I about Pluribus, and she was criminally overlooked for BCS, so I'm genuinely happy for her. Thanks for the info on The Secret Agent. Will check it out.
