Robert Thomas - Interesting stat

Post by Walter Sobchak00 »

(Unless my quick math is wrong)

Only 3 players players who lead their team in points have a higher percentage of difference. (Top points/2nd total points)

Nathan McKinnon
Nikita Kucherov
Macklin Celebrini

While everyone can agree Thomas is not having the best of seasons.. he's got no one around him doing anything.

Doesn’t he have 9 points more than the next guy?

Thomas has 27.3% more points than 2nd place

MacKinnon has 29.5% more points than 2nd pace

Kucherov has 30.8% more than 2nd place

Celebrini (ridiculous) has 55.8% more than 2nd place

He has 9 more points than the great buchnevich. Percentages are inflated because numbers are lower.

Bedard has 10 more points than #2 and has missed 14 or so games.

Thomas has been pretty bad this year

Thomas has also missed a decent chunk of games this year.

He's clearly the Blues best forward right now by a good length. But as much as I like him, I think that speaks more about the rest of the roster than how great Thomas is...

Thomas is on a 64 point expectation. It's not the ascension season we all wanted. He's not bad, he's just below his standard. Most of us were expecting the PPG and hoping he would dabble in the 90s. If that day ever happens, the Blues are on to something. But the fact of the matter is Thomas has gotten better at defense. So he is still improving in ways. It's just a bummer that we can't get 2 prolific scorers on the sides of him. The Blues and it's fans were hoping Snuggs could be that guy. But it's still too soon. The real reason things haven't gotten better tho is because of Kyrou. Kyrou was supposed to be that lifetime pairing. He was supposed to be the 40 goal guy. He turned out to not be that guy so far, and has been dropped down the lineup. Buchy is supposed to be a 2 way guy. He is probably better serviced to be on your 2nd line.

The Blues need to make a pivot if they want to get the most out of Thomas prime years. They need to either go all in on a superstar winger and move kyrou and just try to 1 line it. Or they need to figure out the 2C and need to get someone "cough ROR cough" that can play at the same level as Thomas so the other team has difficulties matchup wise.

I will say this, the coaches get blamed for sure for messing with the Kyrou/Schenn/Hollywood line at the start of the year. They should have let that alone instead of putting Suter in that spot. It threw off everyones rhythm and up and down the lineup the team had no consistency. Snuggs wasn't ready for line 1 time. Suter didn't develop a solid relationship with those 2. That was a coaching problem.
