Way to Go Faulker

Post by callitwhatyouwant »

I'm not one to usually make predictions but I stood by Justin Faulk. He really is having a tremendous season on an otherwise not very good team. Yesterday's interview with Army during the game kind of revealed the state of the franchise. He didn't have high praise for Parayko or Binner outside of "they knew they were going to be on the Canada team." He had 0 positives to say about the forward group. He really only praised Faulk and Broberg. He said those two were the only ones that during this roller coaster of a season have been consistently setting a good standard of play.

I feel like Faulks good play deserves a little meet the parents reference. "It's only a game Faulker!"

I for one am not a big fan of blowing up D cores when they have years left on their game. Unless you have the heir apparent ready to go. I know most of you guys would be in favor of selling high. But I doubt we roll both Jiricek and Lindstein next year. Kessel and Tucker have done nothing to make me believe they can be 6/7 career guys.

Nor am I. No need, let the kids develop and flip vets when their contracts are expiring.

Two of the Knights goals were directly the result of Faulk's inability to play defense and make smart plays in his own end...and he took a stupid penalty. Faulk is a problem, not an asset.

Teams will overlook a portion of a defenseman’s defensive ability if he is putting up points, especially goals from a RHD Also another team will look at faulk and say he is on a bad team that is overworking their top 4 by a long shot.

We wont get the moon, but faulk will definitely get some calls.

FWIW on the two defensive misplays, one of them is a coaching issue. the scheme of sending everyone without a short term outlet will force some higher danger chances or some icings more often. gotta live with the outcome of passes getting cleanly picked off occasionally.
