Jamal Roberts appreciation thread
Thank you to all the athletes who could have chased a paycheck and left for a different school this portal season.
This is an appreciation thread for Jamal. Local, Missouri kid. Dreams of being a Tiger. Came here, has shared the backfield and even taken a back seat.
With his talent, he could have gone the Lacy route and left to a rival where he’d have made a lot more money too. He chose not to. He’s a true son. We need to appreciate him and let’s all hope he’s utilized correctly next year. Pretty cool to think, we might have 2 NFL RB’s in our backfield next year.

One thing we have seen over several years has been outstanding play at running back. So yeah, kudos to Roberts, a Tiger.Armchair QB wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026 07:42 am Thank you to all the athletes who could have chased a paycheck and left for a different school this portal season.

Im probably hoping against hope that the new OC realizes what a versatile weapon he can be.
Perhaps when Roberts isnt spelling Hardy in the run game he can be utilized in some H Back packages and match him up with a linebacker or maybe a small safety in the passing game.
We have to get our best players on the field as much as possible. The more weapons the more you can stress the defense.
Im hoping when he was being wooed to stay part of the conversation had to do with his talents being utilized in the passing game as well as the running game.

Agree. I keep thinking of how intimidating the Rams offense was with Marshall Faulk as a receiver. Not saying Roberts is as gifted as Faulk but it can make defenses work overtime figuring out adequate coverage.11WSChamps wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026 09:43 am Im probably hoping against hope that the new OC realizes what a versatile weapon he can be.

Re: Jamal Roberts appreciation thread
Generally an appreciation thread goes to someone who might be deemed unappreciated. Everyone loves Hardy and the offense at times was geared to get him as many yards as possible. He’s obviously great and everyone knows it.
Roberts stuck around despite having to take a back seat, while probably being as good as Hardy. Takes high character these days to be as good as him, to be a role player, and not take a big check somewhere else because he wants Mizzou to be great.
Not everyone understands an appreciation thread, or they’re just obtuse.

Thanks for doing this....Jamal is one of two fantastic running backs this team is blessed to have and the kid from St Mary's has come through for all of us who know what we have.
And might not be popular to say but Jamal has chosen to stay with Eli as well as Missouri.

No doubt a great player. Glad he is returning, hope he can go pro when he wants to. The talent is not mistakeable.

I'm afraid Drinkwitz's idea of imaginative offense is limited to an occasional flea flicker.11WSChamps wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026 09:43 am Im probably hoping against hope that the new OC realizes what a versatile weapon he can be.
