Green and Roberts staying home!

Post by Armchair QB »

2 MAJOR pieces for the team that were uncertain, looks like they’ll stay with us for another year.

So that’s a huge boost (no pun intended) to the O Line, and IMO the most dangerous weapon we have on offense coming back. I know Hardy is the lead back and he’s a stud. But Roberts is a bit more of a do everything back and multi-purpose weapon.

PLEASE, new OC, build on what we’re returning and do a great job building upon it. Next season can be special if the coaching is great.

I actually believe this is the smart move for Roberts.

He'll be able to showcase his versatility without having to take a beating as highly successful backs in college are prone to do.

The long game is longevity in the NFL and I believe this is the road Roberts should go down to accomplish that.

If I'm the new OC I make it a priority to have Hardy and Roberts on the field at the same time as much as possible.

Incorporating tge backs into the passing game with Roberts could provide some nightmare matches for opposing defenses.

I'd like to see Roberts used as a receiver more often. Been a big fan of screens and flat passes since seeing how players like Marshall Faulk and Christian McCaffery can rip open a defense coming out of the backfield. I think Roberts has that capability.

YES! Duo in the back field!! Please! I'll take no empty backfield too!

This is great news and if they make some adjustments I would not be shocked if Roberts surpasses Hardy next season in offensive output.

Huge win for Green to stay too.

That would be amazing if the OC will see it (not sure how Moore / Drink didn’t). If we have those 2 on the field at the same time a lot, we can then mix in a 3rd younger back and develop him. The key is Roberts. He’s dynamic catching the ball and that opens a lot up.

Olugbode is staying too! That’s massive. He’s buddies with Zollers and those 2 have really good chemistry. I’d imagine that speaks volumes about the plans at QB next year.

Again, I’m not afraid of Zollers being back there as long as he gets the protection he needs. Hopefully he has a chip on his shoulder about how things went this year and he comes out with something to prove in spring camp.

I’d also be ok with signing a stud QB, but no mediocrity please. We need to be good at QB.

Roberts, Hardy, Olugbode and picking up at least one more elite type playmaker in the portal along with a healthy Norfleet or an upgrade at that position should give the new OC plenty of weapons and variables in the passing game.

Obviously you have get the QB right and protection schemes that go with it.

But nobody can say that the weapons aren't there to be successful.

Unfortunately, history points to option 2 as being the prudent selection.

Agreed.

Despite all the hype Norfleet doesn't cut it as a difference maker as a reciever.

An upgrade works for me.

I'll call it a down year....it happens....and maybe not used as he should have been.

I look for a good rebound next year.

A healthy Norfleet would be amazing. We kind of forget about him due to his knack for being sidelined. But when healthy he’s a weapon. Frankly, I really like Jude James. He has a chance to be a weapon at TE too.

Looks like we’ll have @ 60-70% of our offensive production back, outside of the passing game. That’s a lot of weapons for Zollers (or whoever ends up being the QB) and our new OC to work with. Drumbeat is, fix the O Line and it really could be a vast improvement next year.

They have holes to fill on the offensive line and wide receiver. I'd rather see them spend money there than dropping $3 million plus on a proven quarterback. And I bet Hardy and Roberts would, too.
