Braggin' Rights beatdown

Post by 12xu »

Mizzou was no match for the Illini tonight. Wagler continued his outstanding play, with 22 pts with 5 of 6 on threes, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. Stojakovic with 16 pts, Z. Ivisic with 11 rebounds and 3 blocks, T. Ivisic with 14 pts. and 5 rebounds.
Team rebounds Illini 43 - Mizzou 24 Team assists Illini 20 - Mizzou 6

Illinois 91 Mizzou 48 = biggest blowout in Braggin' Rights history

Mike Latulip's podcast after the Nebraska loss said all the defensive woes were fixable...they certainly seemed to fix them. That was the best defensive performance I've seen in many years. Much better communication on off-ball movement prevented cutters getting to open areas and better movement on ball screens prevented downhill runs.

My only nitpick is I would've liked to see starters pulled with about 6 mins left instead of 2, especially since Stoya already got a partial injury. The announcers kept saying he hurt his ankle, but it looked like a hammy cramp to me.
