What power bats are available?

Post by OldRed »

Personally, I can't see any the Cardinals can trade for. We all know they will never sign another good free agent. So again, do you trade for prospects, average pitching or is it just a salary dump?

Ok. Your title says power bats. Your dialoge doesn’t mention them. It mentions prospects, pitching, and taking a dump.

Whats the subject your attempting to debate.

I think what they are doing has been discussed many times here. Perhaps you don't like it and hope to hear a different story. Well sorry that won't happen.

STL is in a rebuild. They will be trading for prospects. They won't be signing any expensive free agents this year.

Ok. Back to your intent. Good. No no power bats.

390 position players on the 26 man rosters. Five per team are concreted in. That’s 150 players. Leaves a pool of 240 players that all 30 teams are dredging from to fill the final eight positions per team.

See the issue now.

I thought on another thread he started, he was talking about getting defense-oriented position players in any trade because our pitching is going to be weak. I'm confused.

I'm not sure if Jasson Dominguez is a power bat. But his name was mentioned in trade speculation involving Donovan.

Montes with Seattle and Eldridge with the Giants have both been discussed as trade pieces for Donovan. They both are some of the best power bats in the minors.

If I understood right from his EV Al’s Montas is not a good fielder and slow. We need atheletic players. The best athletes.

Eldridge I know little.

I think the best hope is the international signings or RRodriguez

Lazaro Montes is a nice one being mentioned.

Another possibility is to try to get someone like Coby Mayo from Baltimore and give him some runway like Walker and Gorman.

Earlier in the off season, The Angels were looking to move either Jo Adell or Taylor Ward, they ended up trading Ward, but they received a young starting pitcher in return. The Cardinals weren’t going to make that trade. Toronto is looking to move Santander, but the Cardinals aren’t going to obtain that contract! Montes, that has mentioned is a nice young power bat, if they can convince Seattle to let go of him.
