Will Monty throw in the towel on efforts to ice a fourth line?

Re: GDT: Hawks at Blues 7:00 ESPN+ Hulu
I actually thought McGing looked decent last night but just realized he's 27 years old so bleh, nothing to get excited about there.
Watched a few Gavin McKenna highlights today since a high draft pick is looking more and more likely. Oh, and I've read somewhere--can't remember where--that once the Blues have a TOP5 PICK in the lineup they're pretty much a lock to win 70 games a year. Some places say McKenna's a "generational" talent but pretty much every year we're told the projected #1 is "generational."
But then I read that recently McKenna is now viewed as TOP-5 but not a lock for #1. He has a great, incredibly fast and accurate release and shot but wow is he skinny.
IF the Blues finished last in the NHL what's their chances of getting the #1 in 26 and whoops just realized they wouldn't get that pick until 27.
All this losing is frying my brain.

In 2 days we celebrate the anniversary of the Fowler trade, which completely changed the fate of the team last season.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 16:15 pm I actually thought McGing looked decent last night but just realized he's 27 years old so bleh, nothing to get excited about there.

Army will of course say later on "getting guys back from injury is like a trade"
but I wouldn't rule out a significant move here in December
Maybe he will concede? Might not have to. Either way, the results from this season determine our pick for the 2026 draft.

I have 0 faith in their ability to turn this thing around, mostly because of the injuries and how badly they've decimated an already limping offense.zamadoo wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 16:21 pmIn 2 days we celebrate the anniversary of the Fowler trade, which completely changed the fate of the team last season.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 16:15 pm I actually thought McGing looked decent last night but just realized he's 27 years old so bleh, nothing to get excited about there.

If they had great goaltending to bail them out and allow them to open up their play and start taking some chances to get the engine into gear, maybe, but, right now, they're getting burned on every mistake and rarely converting on opportunities.
Pretty much the worst Blues team I've seen since the early 2010's. Even before the injuries they only scored 5 goals twice and never more than that.
So yeah, it's a shame they extended Fowler as he likely could have landed a nice prospect at the TDL.
Re: GDT: Hawks at Blues 7:00 ESPN+ Hulu
McKenna is starting to slide a bit apparently. He's not considered the lock 1 overall he once was. Admittedly, I know nothing about prospects nor do I watch any games so I am just going off of what I have read. One of the guys here that follow the prospects may smack me down on this and I would 100% defer to them.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 16:15 pm I actually thought McGing looked decent last night but just realized he's 27 years old so bleh, nothing to get excited about there.

I'd like to see some signs of the turnaround that's coming upon this team.
Maybe tonight.

I was thinking a goal from Holloway or Thomas. Do I gamble....
Re: GDT: Hawks at Blues 7:00 ESPN+ Hulu
It's as bad as last year, worse with all the injuries. Let's say last year was 09-10, this year is 10-11...next year we'll be first placeblackinkbiz wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 16:40 pmI have 0 faith in their ability to turn this thing around, mostly because of the injuries and how badly they've decimated an already limping offense.zamadoo wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 16:21 pmIn 2 days we celebrate the anniversary of the Fowler trade, which completely changed the fate of the team last season.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑12 Dec 2025 16:15 pm I actually thought McGing looked decent last night but just realized he's 27 years old so bleh, nothing to get excited about there.
